Who here only eats when hungry?

Who here only eats when hungry?

I've switched from smaller more frequent meals throughout the day, to eating larger meals when getting hungry.

Has anyone done this and prefer it?

Instead of 6 smaller meals, I've been on 4 large ones.

If i keep in mind that a snack = meal then i can make it happen, but otherwise i will forget to eat a meal and thus the problem sometimes..

i eat every 2-3 hours and if i dont i freak out

hunger shouldnt be too much of an issue, if your workouts are balls-Fin intense and maybe you do cardio too, you'll be F-in hungry all the time

I've tried that before, but I only feel hungry normally once a day and if I'm busy or away from home long enough that the hunger pain subsides, then I have to force myself to eat. I'm trying to get better at making myself eat more often and spacing my meals out so that I am getting protein every 3-4 hours. Due to my schedule (and the time I was doing cardio), I wasn't eating until the early afternoon and then all of my meals were pretty late in the day (and I was always up until around 3 am). Personally, my stomach can only hold a certain amount of food before I feel uncomfortably stuffed, so I have to eat small meals and snacks instead of big meals.

Its been good so far. I'm up a further few lbs since trying it recently (last 3 weeks). Larger meals + digestive enzymes seems to work well with me.

I still eat atleast every 3 hours.

I guess it comes down to how much your body can process/digest.

I've always heard that if you feel hungry, you're already too late (catabolism has already started). I don't know how true this is.

I've heard the same exact thing. I don't believe i eat enough, because i am always hungry. Its not always easy when i'm in class for half my day.

I just try to down my shake and eat eat eat when i get home. I tend to wake up on my own at 2am and eat, and once again at 5am... just wake up starving.

Worth noting that hunger has some to do with the bodies lack of something therefore sending signals to eat. Hunger is also triggered by all of the bodies senses. If something is not triggered, do you not eat? During activities the body shuts down temporarily the hunger signals and therefore you do not feel hungry, however if you are gaining this is obviously a detrimental effect

well its funny you mention that that has kind of been my "diet" for the last few years and i really didnt pay attention to what or why i was eating kinda got me in trouble ie.275lbs @#% body fat however since i revamped my Diet foods i still eat when im hungry and ve shed roughly 35 lbs. and by just having a can of tuna in the glove box or few chicken breasts in the fridge at work it seems as though my body kinda "lets me know" what and when it needs calories ( but like i said just by changing WHAT i was eating ) i cut 35lbs in the last month and a half. and i still eat when i want when my body tells me to i also think that my protien intake has helped me not lose muscle mass. i eat alot of protien

    agree 100%

if i was trying to gain mass, i would eat my 6 meals and if i was hungry, have snacks in between to curb it.

Like he said ^^^ if your hungry its a signal saying "HEY I NEED SOMETHING!"

The only time it can be a little tricky is if you eat sugar, cause this will cause you to be hungry yet u ate! thats one great reason why after ur pwo shake an hour or less youll be hungry if you lifted good

I stick with 6 to 7 small portioned meals. No matter what though, I'm always hungry. When I used to be fat, I would eat all day. After a competition once, I went to IHOP and spent $62 just on myself! It didnt end there, when I left I went to Dunkin Donuts and ate a dozen donuts too! IDK, maybe I was meant to be a competitive eater huh?

Bingo! I find that when I'm doing daily cardio, playing sports, and training consistently - I am always hungry. It's a curse because it takes a ton of willpower to stay lean!

This has officially become an epic thread.

Damn, that's an incredible pig-out! One time I ate 2 boxes of captain crunch and a gallon of skim milk in a sitting. Yes, I was baked.

LMAO! It was one HELL of a pig-out. The waitress came up to me and said" we normally dont see guys like you eating here". I explained that I just finished competing. Needless to say I had quite an audience. Back to the original thread starter...I have to time my meals. I'm always hungry no matter what.

On non-workout days I only eat about 4 meals (LARGE meals). On days I do workout I normally hit 6-7 smaller meals. I have noticed no difference from moving from a consistent 6-7 small meals everyday to my current pattern. As long as your getting your protein every few hours and are meeting your required kcals for that day then I see no problem with doing it this way. I have a very fast metabolism tho so for some the smaller meals may be more ideal.
