    Packets of Splenda...

Might be a dumb question, but how much is in a single packet of splenda ? The local costco here does not sell it in packets its just in a huge bag like sugar and buying the individual packets from a grocery store is beyond expensive. (I'm trying to do some baking from the recipes section )

I just checked on a pack and they don't specify weight in grams or anything, so it's hard to say - but my guess would be about 1/2 a tsp... definitely no more than 1tsp.

Weird that Costco doesn't have them in packets, that's where I buy mine. Costco/Kirkland has their own brand - maybe they carry those? The grains are a little larger, but for the most part it's a fine (and cheaper) substitute for Splenda.

The sachets i've got are 15 kilojoules each. Equivalent sweetness to 2x spoons of sugar.

The big bags are usually cut with a lot more fluffy maltodextrin so that it is equivalent measure to sugar. I use this kind all the time, I normally use a little less than the recipe calls for. If it is the tiny, dense powder, then I can't help at the moment.

A packet of splenda contains maybe 1/3tsp.. I'm at work so I can't weigh the powder, but I dumped it in to a 1/2tsp measuring spoon. 1 packet takes up a little more than 1/2, 2 packets overflow the 1/2 tsp.

    Packet says 0 calories

think what i posted above is moreso the guidelines on what a companys product can contain and still call itself "no calorie"

    i copied this from wiki:

The actual caloric content of a single-serving (1-gram packet) of Splenda is 3.36 calories

I think you'd have to be correct on the calories.. The packet says 0 calories, but I don't see how that's possible since it contains Dextrose n Maltodextrin. The nutritional label also says 0 carbs.. (smh)

I'm not 100%, but I've heard that the actual Sucralose contains calories, but they can say 0 calorie because it can not be broken down by the body. So it has a net effect of 0 calories on the body.

I think you are allowed to go below or beyond your label indicated level with a certain degree of error. So it is more like sth 4.90-5.10 king of range
