Farts and Bloating....what to do?
Bodybuilders dark little secret is that gas can sometimes be a problem due to high levels of protein intake and the large volume of food we eat.
What to do?
There are two approaches to consider:
1) Enzymes to help aid in the digestive process
2) Chemicals to help prevent gaseous buildup.
I have been taking simethicone with my meal here of late, and it does seem to help. I've found that taking 1 cap an hour prior, three during, and another shortly after a meal, for me, helps reduce most of the gas. Each cap is 125mg. I will be experimenting with higher doses to see how much it takes to completely eliminate the gas. My concern is that the amounts I'm taking far exceed the recommended dose. I looked up what the sides are from excessive consumption, and I'm really not seeing anything that concerns me. So I'm going to be jumping up to higher doses and see what happens. In all, I could be taking upwards of 15 or 20 caps/day. I just ordered a thousand caps of 80mg ea for something like $25, so I should be good for awhile.
Additionally, I just ordered a pound each of papaya powder and bromalain powder. Both are digestive enzymes that improve the body's ability to digest protein. I'm going to experiment by putting amounts of this powder in my liquid egg white blender meals, as I think all the egg is finally starting to affect me.
If I find anything that works, I'll let you know.
But right now, it smells like something dead crawled up inside of me!?

You could be right. I'm not willing to give them up just yet though. I'm hoping/betting that the items I just purchased will do the trick

You could also try betaine hydrochloride to aid protein digestion.

Papaya enzymes are good I've used that
Pro biotic are also good. Dont forger to keep them in the refrigerator. bino if you start to get gas helps.

yeah, I need to get more probiotics. ran out a week ago. thanks for the reminder.
Beano enzyme helps with carbs/starches. I think the problem is the protein. Although I take beano too.........
and I've got a pound of the papay enzyme coming

Wierd how when I increase my protein intake to above 300g I become constipated even if I eat a generous amounts of fiber throughout the day.
For instance, today was my monthly cheat day so I indulged in 200g of more carbs, 50g of more fats and around 30-40 more grams of protein. Was very gassy throughout the day.
However yesterday I went out for dinner and the only thing different from my regular eating habits was that I had 100 or so more grams of protein and stayed within my macros for carbs and fats and was hardly passing wind or had any desire to go to the toilet and relieve myself.
I will also try experimenting with papaya powder as there is a herbal store down my road which sell all sorts of natural medicines and remedies.

One concern I do have.
My intent is to add the enzyme directly into the liquid egg white blender meal I bring with me to work. My concern is that there may be a possibility that the enzyme would begin breaking down the protein during the several hours pre mixed and in the fridge at work. I'm not sure if that happens, it would be a visible process. I may have to do a controlled experiment and run two mixtures, one with and one without the enzyme, side by side, in the fridge for several hours and see what the difference is. And if the protein does break down, are the peptides/amino acids that result from the protein breakdown still bio available?
More to think about.......

Can water intake have any sort of correlation toward the matter at hand? The more water we drink the more it 'flushes out' our system (bro science here).

I don't see how water can change microbial activity in the gut and improve the digestion process?

I didn't think of that, but then I checked iherb, and found many, one example of which is here:

So presumably, it is OTC in the US. I have not used this product, I just posted it as an example, and because it has lots of positive reviews, so seems like a product that works well, and you can check and see if people got the results you seek.

so I woke, up, and a banana
came down stairs, moaning and groaning (the morph and alleve hadn't kicked in yet) and had three 125mg gas-x. then three papaya enzyme. then 8 cooked eggs. then another gas-x, then a cup of coffee with a drip of 50/50 milk in there.

Went down to the store yesterday and got hold of my papaya powder. Had some with breakfast this morning and didn't notice much difference throughout the whole day.
I will have it on an empty stomach tomorrow and see if this helps.

(I used to not add the "almost" part, but too many chuckleheads would then ask "well, what about homosexuality?")
I ordered up their "freebie" tote bag for only $0.50 [includes the tea sampler] as I've been packing my lunch and putting in one of those cheap throwaway plastic bags you get at the grocery store for your food.

Predigested Proteins
As you can tell, I've been giving this some serious thought. If papayan is supposed to help with the digestion of proteins and help reduce gas, then I started thinking.....
So what would happen if I added the enzyme directly into the blender and ground it up along with the chicken and the egg white and let it sit for a few hours? Maybe I could get a jump on this digestion process? Which brings me to another idea of predigested proteins. Predigested, or "hydrolyzed" protein is easier to assimilate. One method of creating hydrolyzed protein is through an enzymatic process. I'm sure my method is too crude to be effective, but I'm going to give it a try.
This is what I ground up in my blender
1 pint liquid egg whites
1 apple
5 papaya tablets
I did this at 7am and will consume it 4 hours later.
Plus I have the gas X I'm taking too.
Let's see what happens.......

I drank a lot less water than i usually would today (not intentionally) and the stench was so strong at times my dog didn't want to sit near me.
Also worth noting:
I drank more protein shakes than i usually would (3 instead of usual 2)
I drank a dare iced coffee which i usually wouldn't
Had less solid meals than usual

I've also noticed that having more synthetic protein really amplifies the stench from my farts.
Might have to stop buying whey protein and stick to my creatine only

I had this issue as well. Changing how I drank water helped a ton. I was chugging 3-4 glasses of water at a time. Now I just sip on it throughout the day and I'm fine.

Results so far.............
I may be on to something here. Of the two types of compounds I've been experimenting with, it appears that simethicone is the most effective. Here's what I do:
I recently purchased off the net 1,000 caps of 80mg each simethicone
1) I take about 4 or 5 when I first wake up and eat my first meal, containing eggs.
2) For lunch, I prepare two shaker cup meals. in each, in put in the blender for each meal about six or so caps. Blender grinds them up so no big deal. I eat my first meal at 11 and the second around 3. A piece of fruit in between about every hour.
When I forget to take the simethicone in the evening, the gas/bloating comes back. When I remember, it stays away. All in, I'm at least a gram of simethicone a day, much higher than the recommended daily dose. But according to everything I read, there are no reported cases of over dose, nor are there any real sides.

This effectively eliminates over 90% of the gas/bloat. I still have to play around with trying to find the dose with the optimal benefit with the lowest dose.
And I still have all the various enzymes. And i'll continue to experiment with those too.
