Hit A New PR This Morning!!!

Not diet/nutrition related, but seeing as this section is my home ...

Incline bench, 275lbs x 5. No lift off, no spotter, slow and controlled (i.e. no bouncing), full ROM, brief pause before completing the eccentric portion of each rep.

For me, that's really good. Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day. Happy Monday!

Thx, appreciate it! I am the strongest I've ever been, in all lifts across the board. Unfortunately, I'm also the fattest I've been in years, which probably accounts for a lot of that strength.

    Thanks fellas!

Marcus, I'm the strongest I've ever been, no doubt about that. I look like sh!t though ... just way way too fat for my comfort level. I haven't gotten measured recently, but I'd venture to guess I'm close to 20%, if not already there. A lot has gone on in my life over the past 1.5 years, what hasn't allowed me to prioritize training (although I have trained consistently throughout the entire time) and especially, nutrition - and it's all starting to catch up with me now. At 39 years old, it's not getting easier, but gotdamnit, my goal in my last year of my 30's is to do exactly what you said!!!

Good job, that is a nice pb to get. For the record, 20% in a bulk phase isn't bad, you could drop 5% in a matter of weeks with ease, and 39 isn't old, I'm 42 and wont consider myself old yet, no matter how many aches and pains I have. I too am knocking on the door of 20% if not there, but I gained some weight during my bulk phase after the summer and will shed it come spring. Keep up the good work, don't worry too much about the bf% until no shirt season is upon us again.

Thanks man. The problem is, I wasn't in a bulk phase, I was just slacking. I had a few brief comebacks, one where I got back down to roughly 13% (from probably 17), but this last slack-off has been my worst, mainly due to some life changes.

There's really no magic answer, I simply need to make dieting down a priority again, get myself to a point where I'm at least comfortable, and then reassess from there and decide what direction I want to go in. Comfortable for me, at this point, would be 15% or lower, sadly. lol. Funny, a few years ago, I would've been in panic mode over 15%, now I'm just working to get back down to that. All relative.

You already know what's under this 'bulk' ... a swimmer's physique, more or less. I've finally accepted that getting big isn't in the cards for me, for a few reasons which I will elaborate on if anybody is interested. But, I'm ok with that. I've come to peace with it. At 39, my focus has shifted more to overall health and longevity, aesthetics, quality of muscle vs. quantity so to speak. I need to make my 40th year my bitch!!!

Just keep keeping on, 5% is only 10lbs at 200lb body weight, not that hard to do with a little effort. I will never be a mass monster either, I just want to get as close to the Rock's physique as I can for one summer, then just stay fit through my 40's.
