Thanks bros
Yeh they havent given me official diet orders yet but have me on low sodium here
I.have a lot of areas to.improve with my diet...that was the only thing holding me back from getting 15% or under again...cuz i average 4 days intense in the gym for a year and a half...and that's sometimes my problem when I don't workout I.not only get hungrier but seems I.wash the whole week and even out my calories input/output...but I mean triple starch meals like beans, rice, potatoes as sides....Last edited by zaggahamma; 05-03-2012 at 08:30 AM.

JPK, You said no warning, nothing Bro????? Chest pain, tingling in left arm, shortness of breadth, nothing????? Did you feel normal over the last week or so? This scares the shit out of me as both grandfathers dropped dead from MI in their late 40's.... Mother and grandmother too, just a litle older. Most importantly get yourself well, would like to hear more of what was going on if anything. Again, be well Bro.

Last couple months I had heartburn almost daily ...the docs r saying that could have beeen a sign...I used to have heartburn daily in my early 20's for like a year or 2....then zero heartburn for like 20 years! Then last few months off and on then daily

speaking of heartburn, every time my PVC's act up a get a heartburn feeling and vice versa! this is common actually, stomach problems some how are linked to heart problems, but not life threatening as far as i was told, however no one really knows!
JPK, start eating that dark chocolate

Hope you get back on your feet soon. Makes me stop and think a little. When did you realize it was a heart attack? Most of us are hard headed and would blow is off as heart burn too. I guess there has to be a point when you say Time to go to the hospital this is real. Glad you are feeling better.

Thanks amigo
Even when i was being taken to hospital in ambulance I wasn't sure...as uncomfortable as i was I imagined a heart attack might be more painful / taking me unconscious even though when my mom had hers she was able to walk...guess both our attacks were similar in nature although hers needing bypass(s)/open heart...
I feel better chest wise than I remember before the heart attack...I'm expecting after full recovery I may b better off than i was Cardio wise since the clog was Prolly developing for a while
Hoping to fo home today...slight complication because I developed a hematoma when I moved my leg and the sheath from the catheter got moved causing the internal bleeding...never could keep still and my back was killing me

I been getting a shitload of that heartburn myself, never knew that could be a sign. Listen Bro, Im not preaching to ya cause im one to talk, 2 beers instead of 4, less carbs, exercise all goes hand in hand as you know. sometimes it takes something like this as awake up call. sorry it had to be you, but good news is, ur young and can do something about it. Everyday is a constant struggle for me not to eat too much or shitty, not to tip too many and not live a healthy lifestyle. Im not the brightest bulb, but I finally figured out the first 44 yrs abusing myself (food and beverage) is not offset just by working out daily. Genetics are a big thing we cant control but lifestyle we can.
Best of luck with your recovery!!!

I'm trying to think the last time I had a beer. Every now and then I'll take the cute flight attendant up on the glass of red wine if I have a long flight, but that's about the extent of my fun

I hear you mate. genetics are a biitch if you have bad ones. i knew this dude who said 20 years ago he would die of a heart attack when in his 50's. both his father and grandpa died that way, at that age. and when he turned 54, he had a massive heart attack and passed away. didn't really seem there was much he could do. but then again, he smoked, diet wasn't too great, didnt' exercise....
....so there are things you can do to improve genetics. my friend didn't seem to think it wouuld matter.

Welcome home JPK. Your physical conditioning will def aid in your recovery. Considering "our" mindset, I'm guessing you've already asked the doctors when you can get back to the gym right lol? What did they say? Anyway, you've got a clean slate now. Any initial thoughts on what you'll change in the begining & then moving forward? Stay strong...

Thanks again sir largeness
They had given me a time out from surgery to do/not to do.list like day 2 and it had orders like physical exercise, etc and I figured I'd have plenty o time to review it...I figured between the orders and how i felt I would generate the when was right for me to lift again
Well fight night last night I held true to my 2 beer new limit which i feel was a big reason I over indulged 0000with food as well..seemed as i got alcohol munchies...maybe from blood sugar spikes? Seemed to.work well last night...
And of course Il be on lipitor for life says the good doc, an aspirin, can't remember if the beta blockers r for life but I'm on 2 a day of those as well and a blood thinner Effient for a month..
Also a big change is I ditched the fur coat....twas surprised at how my wife and I liked and like all said makes chest /ab area more defined id like to say Abs but for me well its ab area LmaoLast edited by zaggahamma; 05-06-2012 at 08:13 AM.

Jpkman,
Glad to hear you are home and doing OK. Scary stuff. Sounds more genetic than diet related. Hell look at all the people out there who are unhealthy and eat like pigs but have a good ticker.
My co worker had a heart attack a couple of years ago also due to blockage and got a stint. I know his was diet/stress related because he is one of those who will loose 40+ lbs for a reunion the put it right back on and that's stressful on the heart. He's in the process of doing it again right now so he learned nothing the 1st time.
I dont know if you remember but a few weeks ago I had a echocardiogram done and after learning about it and how it can basically detect a problem like your long before it happens I suggested anyone over 40 should get this done. Obviously a little to late for you but hopefully someone else may look into it and it may save someone having to go through what you did.
Good luck and speedy recovery. I'm glad to see you are not being a stranger.

Yeh thanks bro
I actually had several heart tests before I was even 40..echo, stress, etc. Cuz I had good insurance and I like preventative..all the tests cofirmed I was in tip top health but DID show lipoprotein a (genetic) and knew I had to do everything else right..I.can't say that I've been doing that..also I haven't checked anything lately not even bloodwork minus the cholesterol feedback u get when donating blood and that's usually only total cholesterol and my problem seemed to.be tryglicerides this time SUPRISINGLY
