Well let me rephrase. In the sticky for Hcg it says
DHEA Supplementation
Dehydroepiandrosterone: DHEA
As presented by Dr. Neal Rouzier, M.D.
Here's a great reason to add DHEA to your protcol.
DHEA is a hormone secreted primarily by the adrenal glands. It results in a shift of a catabolic state to an anabolic or protein building state.
It reduces cardiovascular risks by increasing lipolyses (decrease visceral fat).
It stimulates the immune system, restores sexual vitality, improves moods, decreases cholesterol and body fat.
It improves memory, increases energy, and has anti-cancer properties by enhancing the immune system.
It is an endocrine precursor to other hormones, prevents immuno-senescence, loss of sleep, osteoporosis, atherosclerosis.
DHEA reduces insulin requirement
Adrenal hormone anabolic vs. catabolic metabolism
Restores immunity
Prevents osteoporosis, increases bone density
Prevents cancer in lab animals
Prevents diabetes & heart disease
Decreases visceral fat
Improves mood & well-being
Improves energy & memory
Slows aging process in lab animals
Prevents lipid peroxidation =
antioxidant
Endocrine precursor to T.P.E.
7-keto DHEA is not a precursor to other HRT = avoid
Neurotransmitter (recently discovered)
Presently pending FDA approval for Lupus (Prasterone)
Clinically substantiated uses of DHEA include replacement for:
Low DHEA levels
Chronic disease
Adrenal exhaustion or corticosteroid therapy
SLE
Improving bone density
Improving depression & mood disorders
Enhancing immune response by activating T-cells
Improving well-being
Decreasing cardiovascular risk
Improving erectile dysfunction
Anyone over 40
DHEA has never been shown to reverse the aging process
Nevertheless DHEA is important for preventive medicine
DHEA inhibits synthesis of thromboxane A2, reduces plasminogen activator inhibitor, and tissue plasminogen activator
– all decreasing platelet aggregation and ischemia.
Administraiton:
Men<200lb: 50mg AM
Men>200lb: 75-100mg AM
Women <50yo: 10-15mg AM
Women >50yo: 25mg AM
IMPORTANT:
DHEA Serum Levels
MEN
Range 100-600
Optimal 500-600
WOMEN
Range 50-300
Optimal 200-250
Higher levels in women predispose them to side effects – therefore stay low
Monitor monthly until optimal
Assure correct dose and compliance
Measure DHEA-S and not DHEA
Side effects: acne, hirsutism
Tx: Lower dose or take QOD Spironolactone 100 mg/day
Contraindicated in sex hormone responsive tumors – breast, ovarian, uterine, prostate
Conversion to T.P.E.?
DHEA raises testosterone levels in women slightly, yet not in men
DHEA raises estradiol slightly in men
Indications:
Over age 40 for health protection
Preventive medicine and well-being
Symptoms of aging, mood & depression
‘Cause the medical literature suggests it if we want to live longer, happier, healthier
DHEA – S04
MEN Blood levels
Optimal : 500-600 ug/ml
Side effects rare in men
WOMEN
Optimal : 200-250 ug/ml
Dose based on side effects
Side effects very common in women
DHEA Dose
MEN
Capsule – SR micronized
50 mg Q am
>200 lbs – 75 - 100 mg Q am
WOMEN
Capsule – SR micronized
10 mg Q am if over 40
15 mg Q am if over 50
25 mg Q am if over 60
If under age 40, do not prescribe due to sensitivity causing side effects.

Never really heard about supplementing both.
Im 29 and on TRT at 60mg 2X a week, HCG 200iu 2X a week and i take .05mg letrozole once a week. My doc told me to start taking pregnenolone at 100mg once a day. He had never mentioned anything about supplementing DHEA. My last bloodwork for DHEA was a while back. It came in at 191 with a range of 160-449.
I am due to go back in another month and a half for prescription refills and blood work. Should I start taking some DHEA with the pregnenolone and get the bloodwork done in about 8 weeks? Or would it be better off to just take the pregnenolone and ask about the DHEA when i go in?

I have read once already. I guess I needed to read it again. I see that I must of missed a few things. I was in a little bit of a hurry. Ty for the sticky. I'm going to supplement both and just get both levels checked in 8 weeks. I have read where most people are taking 50mg split in 2 does of the dhea as well as the progesterone.
My doc told me to take it at 100mg per day. Is this common?

Pregnenolone best at 50 mg of a slow release micronized pill once daily in the am.
DHEA 25 mg twice daily of a slow release micronized pill.

I've been taking 50 mg of Pregnenolone every morning for a few weeks, I noticed my sleep has improved a lot. But I'm either topped out on DHEA or highly allergic to it, my face, neck and shoulders turn blood red and I'll sweat my ass off when I take 25 mg, no matter if it's cheap or the expensive micronized. I won't touch DHEA again!

I was just about to order more as I am almost out... Do you think I should up my intake to 150 mg (75mg twice daily - can break tab in half) vs the 100mg I am currently taking (Nutricology micronized)?
My blood work came back at 62 ng/dL on a scale of 13-208 ng/dL, however, blood work was taken about 24hrs after last intake (took Friday morning at 7am and got blood work at 9am on Saturday morning fasting).
Thanks again,
Dave

^^^^I'd stick with the 100 mg split twice daily.
Both of these hormones are best taken in small doses so please note that.

True to my word, here is my order of the same as GD.
Note: the tabs have been removed from original bottles and vacuumed packed, in order to be mailed to Canada and pass through the boh dah.
I removed them form their vacuum seal and placed them into containers i already had on hand. Then i carefully peeled of the stickers that were affixed to the packaging, and stuck them on my bottles.
Thanks again for all your help GD - much appreciated.

Thanks
Thanks GD I followed your advice regarding the dhea and pregnenolone and just got mine today. It took a week but Im glad i got a quality product, Im also thankful for the education on supplements an other information regarding TRT you have given me- I would have just gotten the cheap stuff at GNC or something but now I understand why pharmacy grade is worth the $ an the wait!
Im going to do - 50mg pregnenolone in the a.m and one 25mg of dhea in the a.m followed by another in the pm around 8 hours later.. correct?

Yes, these products are the real deal, pure and pharmacy grade not discounting ultra micronized for better uptake.
I take 25 mg of the DHEA before bed and one when I wake. These are slow release so you won't get that energized feeling some men get.
I take 50 mg of preg when I wake as well.
Keep an eye on inventory and know when to order in advance so you don't run out.

Have you ever heard of a connection between lack of Pregnenolone and migraine headaches? I started taking Anastrozole a few months back because after 3 years of being on TRT I finally got a dr. to check my E2 levels and they were high, tatal E was over 300 and E2 over a 100. Before I started the Anastrozole I suffered from severe migraines daily and they went away shortly after I started taking it. So I was convinced that was what was causing the migraines. I also started taking Pregnenolone about the same time. I ran out of Pregnenolone and was without for a little over a week and the migraines came back BIGTIME! When I started taking the Pregnenolone again the migraines have not come back. I know headaches can be caused by high E2, but it looks like being low on Pregnenolone can cause it too.

Question: If HCG promotes pregnenolone production (per the HCG and Pregnenolone sticky) and HCG is part of one's protocol, why supplement with additional pregnenolone?

Simple, the doses we are taking when and what becomes from a bio-available is very low. So by covering all the bases at low doses insures we are doing our best to back fill the pathways as best we can.
Also, Preg and DHEA support other critical hormonal pathways (think mineralcorticoids and corticosterioids) beyond just the Androgen pathway...so it's important to make sure they are at the optimal levels.
It's not a one trick pony unfortunately.

My doctor recommended I start taking both DHEA and Pregnenolone as part of my TRT supplementation and I bought DHEA from the local GNC because I didn't think that their was a actual pharmaceutical grade product..
I couldn't locate the pregnenolone, so when I went to the compounding pharmacy that my doctor office is located inside they compounded it and I ended up with a script.
Do you think they can do that with the DHEA?
Also I'm getting HCG prescribed but the pharmacy said they can't get the usual brands! They compounded it into a multi-dose vile so it doesn't need to be mixed or refrigerated according to the pharmacist.
This struck me as odd as I have never heard of this.. I was told to take 500IU 3 times weekly. I am a little Leary of the HCG and I want children so it is important that I'm getting real quality medication.
Is there any way to test the HCG to make sure it is real?
