Ordering Labs Online
Is Private MD Labs still the best place to order bloodwork online?

I've been using discountedlabs . com lately. My Doctor was using Health Diagnostics Laboratory for a long time. They would cover whatever you insurance doesn't cover which was awesome. However I believe they filed for bankruptcy, which is probably why my doctor doesn't offer lab draws for them anymore. It was cheaper for me to use discountedlabs than to go to Quest and pay the difference from my insurance coverage.

I've always been a privateMD kinda guy (I like they way their hormone panels are structured and priced) but I can definitely see the benefit in using DiscountedLabs.
I almost always like to have a CBC and CMP included in my labs but if I didn't have a need for those, I could save some money by ordering their individual tests.
Sensitive estradiol + testosterone (free and total) LC/MS = $87. That's not a bad deal at all. Being able to add lipids for another $22 is neato too.

Some of the tests are cheaper at DiscountedLabs. I have used PrivateMD Labs too.
I did have a problem with DiscountedLabs e-mailing results system before. I had to e-mail them directly after waiting a week for results. They promptly sent me the results.

Yea man, it's incredibly silly.
I can't recall the exact number that my insurance paid the last time that I had labs drawn through my GP, but I'm pretty sure it was ~$1200+.
I paid nothing out of pocket, but the fact that their markup is so insanely high just chaps my ass.
I get it. Everybody's gotta make money and that's totally fine, but when they starting charging 10x the going rate for testing...I get a little salty.
