Journal of a skinny 135lb kid... (Warning, be contain extreme skinnyness!)

I shouldn't be doing this but I am going to post current pictures of myself so that I can update this thread over the next year to see if I have improved and for people to give me suggestions. Yes, I am skinny as you can see and I envy the members of this board.

    Chris

(By the way, I graduated high school at 116 lbs so this has been a long battle! I've been on this site now for almost 6 months trying to better my body.)

Congratulations on the gains made since high school and your courage to post your pics. Layout your plan for the coming year and break it down into small goals and work at achieving each set of the smaller goals until you come to the end of the year, turning in some good results.

That's the thing, I am 29 now. Most of the "weight gain" has happened over the last 2 years. I am hoping that my metabolism is decreasing finally.

My final goal really is to weigh 155lbs with low body fat. I know it may never happen but that is my long term goal.

For this summer I am looking to get some kind of defenition in my chest and shoulders (anything would be better than what they are at now).

I was 138lbs when I graduated from highschool and I'm up to 174/179lbs. I started lifting seriously about 2 years ago and have gained that weight naturally! (5'10.8") You can do it man just gotta lift heavy and do the compound stuff like deads, squats, presses. For a long time I neglected legs and never did deadlifts... my body exploded when I started to do them. Deadlifts are by far my favorite exercise now! Still hate squats and gotta space out my sets more than any other exercise to keep from barfing

Eat at least 3k calories a day and include lots of quality whole food protein! Keep us updated!

That should be your second goal. Worry about that after you've bulked a few 2 or 3 times and you have to buy new shirts because they dont fit. Always run into guys who want to get big and strong - but want to have "low BF". They usually spin their tires with their diet and never put on the mass.

    good luck

I have to agree with Tank, I really think your goal is very realistic and attainable even though you have been trying to attain it for some time. Just remember knowledge is key to improving anything in your life and there is so much great info on this forum. Consume more cal's than your burning everyday. Be consistant with your diet and training and I know we are going to see pics this summer of you at your goal weight.

lets see the diet,iI dont care how fast people think there metabolism is, you cant defy the laws of nature!! Eat more clean cals than you burn and you get bigger, it is simple. Diet is always the problem unless there is an underlying medical issue (or a tapeworm!)

I have asked for his diet before to no avail, I'd put $100 on it that he is eating like a tiny person

I consume between 3,000 to 5,000 a day. I guess the easist way is to screenshot my diet journal and post it? I pay $5 a month for it and trust me, I make sure I hit 3,000 calories a day.

I eat a ton of pasta with vegatable sauce with hamburgh.

Morning I normally eat eggs with bacon. I'll drink an Ensure Plus shake because it gives me an extra 350 calories (I am a single parent of two babies so it is tough sometimes so this helps and yes, I know it is expensive.) Then I pack yogart for work and I will have those as snacks. At lunch I will come home and normally have that pasta that I was talking about or I will have stir fry whey rice with veggies. I'll eat a ton of it, I cook multiple servings. I will also consume a 2200 calorie shake from GNC daily. I also have a protein shake at night. For supper I normally try to cook skinless chicken and I will cook veggies to go with it and possibly bake a few potatoes.

The thing is, I don't have a diet that I follow everyday, I just make sure in my log that I am hitting the calories I need (500-1000 over recommended) but I don't eat shit like fast food anymore. I try to eat a lot of carbs.

It can be done, I was 130lbs when I graduated High School. Now I'm 200lbs. Body fat is a little high, maybe 14%. But still an improvment.

big mistake (outlined in red). You will never grow with an unstructured diet, and to fluctuate your cals by up to 2000 per day shows this. 3000 cals a day is too low for a super fast metab and 5000 may be too high. Stop being lazy and put in the work on a structured diet or get used to being skinny for the rest of your life. Thats the bottom line.

So it's important to follow a pre-planned diet versus just trying to eat high calories? See, that is one thing I have missed. I simply try to get the calorie/protien consumptions, I wasn't aware that you have to follow the same diet daily?

You dont need to follow the SAME diet daily, but if you don't have a planned/structured diet its alot easier to accidentally slip a few times and not get what you think you're getting

When people think they're eating "high calories" or "eating all the time" without actually totaling up a few days and looking at the numbers, they'd be surprised how little it actually is.

I heard that.. just eating all the time is a waste of your time..

I was 125 when i graduated.. 5'9"... went to 150 lbs in 12 weeks.. boot camp and tech school..

now 210 @ 14%... year round except during spring/summer anyway.. food is the key.. you can sculpt your body to look anyway you want.. learn what food can do for you and you will have it the rest of your life..

another thing blood, is that your drinking to much of your cals, you say your not eating fast food but really you are with weight gain shakes and ensure..

you HAVE to have structure to your diet eating pretty much the things that work for you at the same time. your body will respond sooo much better.

you for now can get by on shakes and ensure, eating crap like pizza and junk but it would be alot easier to do the right thing now so its not such a huge change latter.

I know what its like being you, eating and eating to no avail. at the end of 02 I weighed in at 155lbs at 6 foot, today Im at a "lean" 205 and was a sloppy 226 at one time, all without drugs so it can be done.

Look up others diets that weigh as much as your goal, see what the common idea is in each of there diets. Take what works for them and apply it to your routine.

Good Luck. You'll deff get there!!!!

man i was around 135 when i graduated high school but i was doing alot of drugs and smoking cigs. way to much. I thought it was impossable for me to gain any weight. Now at 28 clean and sober i am at 170, u can do transform your body into anything u want, just remember to EAT HEALTHY not a bunch of shit i have the same body type has u, u can no question get to 155 and then some naturally probably more like 180 but dont rush it because u will at certain times put on fat but u dont want to put on to much at any one given time. Good LUCK i will be following this one.

Great progress thus far Abernaki. Especially without having a good gameplan to follow.

Stating that you're eating 3000-5000 calories is a HUGE difference, that's 2000 calories/day unaccounted for?

Why not just list a days diet so we can help you restructure it.
If you're cooking one meal at a time, that is your first mistake and it'll make it very hard to succeed.
