Update: It has been about three weeks since my surgery. Thought this update might be good info on the recovery process for those considering the surgery.
1) I started working out about a week ago (the two week mark), which was against doctors orders. He said I would swell really bad if I did. Well I did workout, but stayed away from lifts what hit the chest. I also iced each pec immediately after each workout for 20 mins. I didn't have any swelling or pain.
2) This week I started lift light chest and have still had no additional swelling.
3) I am still wearing a compression shirt 24 hours a day (including during workouts) to minimize swelling.
4) Here is a pic of my nipple. The scar is healing really well, but one thing they didn’t tell me is that the nipple skin falls off! (the tip and near the incision) It grows back, but it is very disconcerting. You can see the new skin underneath that is a different color. It is a few months till the skin will pigmentize like the rest of the nipple. The square depression in my skin is from a silicon patch the doctor wants me to wear to help the scar heal

Hmmm, 6 k is exceptionally high in any part of the country. You definitely had some gyno though minor in comparison to a lot of cases. Don't get too concerned about the nipple pigmentation of scarring. The result thus far looks very good and within a couple of months you should be totally pleased with the outcome. You appear from your pics to be pretty lean so hopefully it's the last time you ever have to go under the knife for any fat removal! Good luck on the recovery and follow the post-op directions

Does anyone have any idea what insurance views are on something like gyno? Is there a way to swing that? Or would that 6K be out of someones pocket?
