no we just tell it like it is and don't worry about fragile egos. i wasn't on any high horse, i live in reality and we call it like we see it. He wants to pursue a competitive bodybuilding career so this less bullshit the better, if he can't handle the criticism or anyone else for that matter than they should change the sport cause thats all you're going to get the whole entire time.
funny how all these stories change. went from 315 x 13 full reps now down to 315 x8Last edited by Reed; 07-18-2009 at 05:17 PM.

You know, I remember that thread about Smoke very well and if you recall he eventually toned it down (after being called out) and said the last 6 or so reps were assisted. There would be so much less controversy if people just told the exact truth the first time. 365 for 14 is still damn impressive in my book.

i agree with the above posts somewhere up there from earlier. you are either a body builder or youre a power lifter. sure people make the transition between the two but then they stick with what they either want or are better at. a body builder has a totally different workout routine than a powerlifter. it took me years to realize that i don't feel or look like a ***** at the gym when i have the standing calf machine at 1/4th of the stack instead of the whole stack and then some.
people build muscle and gain aesthetics much easier using lighter weights, more reps, and proper form... as well as the proper number and type of exercises. being a power lifter you're going to want to spend less time on a 15 rep abducted isolation hammer curl and more time on 6 rep barbell curls.
i look better now and im not nearly as "strong" as i once was (if you even want to call it that)

Everyone needs to calm down, and slowly move toward the exit doors.

As I have stated, I am NEW tUBo this whole BODYBUILDING thing. Obviously i have been lifting for years but not with any focus towards making it so I could be a bodybuilder. When I first thought about BBing I thought you just got jacked and R I P P E D up and then go on a stage FLEX and Pose and then they judged the winner...
Now of course I know better and know that there is a hell of a lot more that goes into it. I have a lot of progress I have to make before I can even think of making an appearance on the stage... Ya know?? I am trying, I will put my all into it and HOPEFULLY I will be able to succeed...

Just keep doing it. Everyone has their own goals. You look awesome already. You said that you were almost at 300lbs at one time, so thats a huge transition already. Sometimes people will mess with you just because they have nothing better to do. Dont take it personal.

Ive also said before that I was a border line fat a$$ at one time, and I still have stomach fat that Im trying to lose. Ill probably have loose skin when Im finished. I would like to know if anyone has had a tummy tuck before. I would have it done for sure if I end up needing it, but I'd like to hear from guys with experience.

Thanks WAR... But ummm shouldn't I listen to your advice too?? Or are you not giving it anymore?? lol..
Yah Reed and FireGuy have pretty much basically slapped the shizzit out of me and brought me into reality to prepare me for this journey I am about to commence in, and for that I extremely commend them for doing such a task.. they definitely made me see things in a totally different light..
BUT...
I can not lay it solely on them.. A LOT of peeps on this board have helped me and deserve due credit... I just can not begin to name them all off.. lol..
Thanks man, THAT MEANS A LOT !!
Yah AT one point not to far in the past I was definitely one Fat Bastid !! Yah I know people like to mess with people because they got nothing better to do and I try not to take it personal I just hate being attacked... especially via a computer where I have no way to defend myself other than words.. it's just a pain... lol.. But thanks for the kind words bro... and dont WORRY I am not EVER going to give up.. my goals and aspirations are too important to me to abandon now.. I have COME to far...
Ehhh my insurance might cover it but I doubt it.. I have state funded MEDICAL insurance.. so I would have to look into it... MAYBE. But thanks for letting me know...

I dont think anyone in the thread was "messing" with Deuce. If you read his first post he wanted an honest critique and even said "be vicious and light into me". As far as Reed and myself we just gave an honest assessment.
Deuce has made some great progress but to tell a guy who is still mid teens bodyfat% and has several lagging muscle groups he looks "awesome" is doing him a disservice. I know this is subjective but lets save the "looking awesome" for guys like Bino, Nark and Reed. (apologies to others I know I am missing).
There is a difference between flaming and critiquing and I didnt see any flaming going on in this thread. The guy stated he wants to compete and was given advice on what he needed to do to reach that goal.

Bodybuilding isn't for people with fragile egos.
I've seen people laughed off stage already.
What would suck more... being told here that you need to re-evaluate your goals?
Or to show up on stage, and get laughed off?
People need to suck it up, and flush the ego.
To the OP... you're not 17%.
Props to what you've accomplished however.
Keep at it... the sky is the limit.

On the loose skin issue . I'm a delivery driver . We had 2 guys do gastric by pass or something , they where huge over weight . They don't workout . but loosing huge amounts of weight over a year . There skin is slowly getting smaller. Looks more like soft skin love handles and belly flab . It seems to shrink very slowly , not sure if you ever bounce a quarter of there belly .
I believe you have surpassed them in lowering your BF % . Could be you lost faster than body could adjust .
I have seen women that where chubby and post pregnancy recover nicely.
Only time will tell but if your trying different things I am sure you will gain ground . Just have to be patient .
Good luck

Yes FireGuy is right.. I do need to be lit into and told the truth but OF COURSE hearing that I look awesome is a bit of an un-needed ego boost.. telling me I look like shit is just gonna of course make me go "Oh yah, that sucks.. wow yah I do.. all things considered.." But I am not gonna go slit my wrists over it. I NEED TO BE TOLD THIS STUFF.
I am trying to pursue a career IN BodyBuilding, however long this takes me I dont know.. nor do I really care.. the means behind which I am going to go for is all that matters.. I will MAKE IT one day..
Of course I know as far as BODYBUILDING standards go by I look like SHIT.
But on any other stretch of the word I look a hell of a lot better than I DID just ohhhh 6 months ago.. here let me find a pic...
This picture was in February of 09.. despite the datestamp.. 11-11-09 has not ever occurred yet...
And another one... this is a little over 5 months ago.. are you going to tell me progress between the pics I have up at the beginning of this THREAD compared to these taken like 170 days ago aren't a COMPLETE 180 ??
It just shows what determination can do... I am dedicated GUYS I really wish you could see that. I want to make this happen, I do this everyday.. I strive and I push and I grind... I eat and eat and eat... I train and train and train...
AND NOW IT'S TIME TO FOCUS IN AND GET EVERYTHING WORKING TOGETHER.. what's the word.. SYNERGISTICALLY or something like that...
You guys always yell at me for the whole CAPS LOCK thing and this that and the other thing when it all boils down to is all I want is HELP. I want to be able to make it on that stage "NOT GET LAUGHED OFF" and to one day take the WIN.
I know that I am a long ways away, I know I have a hard road ahead of me.. but I believe with all of your help and my determination I will be able to do it..
I mean LOOK !! Look at how well me listening to you guys has helped me in JUST 5 measly months??
I appreciate everything everyone has done for me... all the time you have taken out of your day to help me along... IT'S SO AWESOME... I just hope that one day I will be able to repay the favor... Thanks again to all those who have helped me.
I am working on flushing the ego. Trust me I am, I am just now coming to terms with how brutally honest this sport can be... I am building up the appropriate emotional tools to be able to handle it.. It's different.. It's a whole new Ball game so to speak.
AS FOR MY BF% I just did 9 point method with the CALIPER.
Chest = 13mm
Abdominal = 30mm
Thigh = 12mm
Bicep = 7mm
Tricep = 7mm
Subscapular = 24mm
Suprailiac = 19mm
Lower Back = 26mm
Calf = 6mm
Body Fat % = 17.20 %
LBS. of Bodyfat = 38.88lbs
Lean Bodyweight = 187.12lbs.
I am 72" tall and weigh in at 226lbs. at 27 years old.
So according to that, I am 17-ish % Bf... and I JUST DID THIS RIGHT BEFORE THE Post.. so .. yah.. I don't think the caliper and measurement is lying to me brotha but it could be.. I dunno.. I know it was done correctly because I had my Buddy do it who is well.. very versed in using Calipers.. I guess it coulda been done wrong.. nothing is ever 100% but those are the numbers... I plan on doing this weekly to record my progress.. Hopefully it changes for the better week to week... might do it once every two weeks.. I dont we shall see...
But thanks for the advice man.. ALWAYS WELCOME
And I appreciate it dude.. and I know what you meant by it.. I know you werent trying to tell me I was show quality already... but now that people can see some REAL before pictures from 5 months ago to the current ones taken a week ago... maybe I will start to get a little bit more credit on how hard I have been working...
EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A SHITTON OF WORK LEFT TO DO AND A GRUELING ROAD AHEAD OF ME..
But the sick part... I LOOK FORWARD TO THE PAIN AND THE TORTURE OF IT.. Because when the DAY comes that I actually WIN my FIRST TROPHY.. That moment.. (aside from the birth of my kids and *ahem ahem uhh.. my wedding day.. lol*) WILL BE THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT DEFINING MOMENT OF MY LIFE !!!

Bump !!
This is one of the first times I have ever bumped one of my Posts but I hadn't received any opinions on whether or not in slightly under 6 months if I have made ridiculously awesome progress... so I am gonna BUMP it and see what happens... lol...

I am just stoked to see that everyone here has noticed the progress of what I have accomplished in 6 months.. NOW I am looking forward to that YEAR mark.. then 18 month Mark.. then the 2 year.. and so on and so on...

HEY BROS...
NOTICE ANY CHANGE...AT ALL .... IN 3 WEEKS TIME.. ANYTHING???
I can't tell... I need someone else to point it out to me...
Snapped these yesterday...
I mean I have put in 3 hard weeks worth of work and I look at these pics and the ones from 3 weeks ago.. and I think I can see differences but I dont know if my eyes are playing tricks on me... IN THE PICS at the start of the Thread I weighed 225... I now weigh 230... 5 lbs heavy.. and I know it's not FAT.. but if I added 5 lbs. of MUSCLE.. Where is it?? lol... Or maybe it's there and you guys can see it and I am just being my own worst critic right now..
Thanks guys !!!
