Picture taking advice for quality photos

I have tried taking pics with a Sony 5 megapixel camera, and a 1.3 megapixel camera phone and have not had luck with either. Pics get blurry when trying to get close up shots. Any advice?

tripod.. also, some pics do not take pic well if taken too close.. use a little distance, and then magnify..

    lighting can be key..

If you can get it in macro mode...most cameras have a button that has a picture of a flower either on it or on the screen when you press it.
my 5mp kodak has the flower on the screen when you press it. I took the pictures of the test-e in this picture forum...they are very close and in focus
