Noob supplement question
Very basic question. I've currently finished the Insanity workout with Shaun T twice, and just started The Asylum also with Shaun T.
I want to attack this workout with supplements to get better results. I already plan to use protein shakes, but I was wondering if I should take creatine as well.
Keep in mind, this workout is mostly body resistance, with SOME weight training. It isn't really LIFTING.
Is creatine worth it? Or will I just get fat on water weight and not really get results?

Protein is a food. Consider it as such when you plan your dietary intake.
Think of it like a convenient way to eat a chicken breast.

Creatine has been shown in beginners to be more effective at increasing muscle size than placebo in a few studies... but the sample sizes were really small. In the circles I run in creatine is viewed as a waste of money, but that's based on personal experiences of my peers only.

Sorry for the multi post but I keep thinking of different answers for you.
The best thing you can do is solidly your nutrition and get lots of sleep. For your circumstances, that will be the best thing you can do. The over the counter supplement industry is a giant snake-oil operation.
Exceptions: multivitamins, fish oil, etc.
Preworkouts do work pretty darn good for lifters... but if your routines are cardio heavy then pre-workouts will be not so great for your cardiovascular system. I took preworkout before a run when I was a noob many years ago and I felt like my heart was going to explode.Last edited by MODO; 02-02-2014 at 12:39 AM.

So you'd say creatine is overall a waste?

Couldnt disagree more.
Creatine monohydrate is the best supplement anyone can use whether they are a bodybuilder or not. Most used, most studied, scientifically proven results, no dangers, restores lost creatine reserves in muscles for ATP syn, etc. Only side effect could be stomach upset or spending time on toilet is taken too much at once. 5 grams a day is all you need. You will not get enough creatine from diet so supplementation is a must, unless you eat over 2lbs of meat daily. And even then supplementation is superior, fast digestion, fast absorption, no calories.

I'd recommend creatine. It's cheap and lasts you for months at a time.
