    For the Girlfriend

My girl is really getting into weightlifting trying to get real toned, she is 5' 98lbs and really trying to tone up. Do you thinks its a better idea for her to do sets of 3x15 or like 12, 10 ,8 i have heard its better for women to do high reps low weight and vice versa. WHat do you all think is better for her?

I think 12, 8, 10 just because I personally don't believe in the "high-rep low weight" routines. The way I see it is; If you put a pencil in your hand and do 200 reps, did you just get a good workout? No. That may be a long stretch of an example but it's purely opinion. Lifting heavy will tone her out and not make her bulky.

well depending on her goals she can do either lift heavy and lower reps or lighter with higher reps, IMO she should go lighter with higher reps.

I agree with you here steveO. Especially at her height because if she develops too much she will look short and stocky like a gymnist.

If she wants to tone, I always take the "feel the burn" approach...lighter weight and high repetitions.

You won't find any differences in the muscle fiber between women and men if you are looking for articles, at least not in the type II fibers.
