    body gets used to exercise

hey in my previous posts i mention i was cycling about 250 km per week. so 2 hours a day cardio

but i read recently that ur body gets used to one type of cardio and adjusts and its not as effective. how true is that???

makes my cycling seem a bit silly then if i'll only lose so much weight until my body decides not to anymore

    ps i love u

pps i do the cardio mainly for weight loss at low intensity levels

Your body adapts to exercise usually within 8-12 weeks. Highly trained individuals will be closer to the 8 week range than novice or intermediate athletes. You need to search and practice a method called periodization in order to continually stimulate your body in new ways. Most cyclist usually have 3 to 4 different regimes they follow throughout the year. I have tested and trained many endurance athletes and this is what all the top guys do to stay competitive. Good Luck

Yes your body does acclimate to exericise.

    This is why the experienced opt for cyclic training: low; moderate; high; maintenance (re: intensity);

    And

low; moderate; high; maintenance; repeat (re: exercise frequency)... etc.

    2 hours of cardio?

Why so much.. and how long have you been doing so?

    How is it split?

What's the rest of your training split look like?

For a normal individual to have to do that much cardio... something must be SERIOUSLY wrong with their diet.

    No flame intended.

    lol

its 1 hour ride to work. and one hour ride home each day. do that 5 times a week. then go to the gym at night to do upper body weights.

    I eat clean. around 4000c a day.

I've only just started cycling... so its been a week. I just wanted to lose excess fat... i tend to store it around my gut n love handles. I'd like to be able to see my abs one day

I'm 26 90kgs. and 15% bf and 5'11. Have been working out for around 3 years now.

^^You've only been doing it for a week.. it's too early to be wondering if/when you'll acclimate.

Stick with it... when it eventually stagnates you'll have to add an additional session of cardio at the gym. Think of the fat aerobic instructors.

They do hours of aerobics daily.. but they're fat.

This is namely because their bodies have adapted to it.

you can change your cycling up.... it's kind of hard though for you cause you tend to ride the same route ED.... but you can cycle a lower gear and spin quick.... and then other days you can put it in a high gear and pedal hard.... works well.... hill training days are great... i do it pedal up a hill in say 5th gear then 4th,3rd and so on till 1st gear.... thats a great work out i onl;y do it once a week hill training..... in other words you need to mix things up if you get me????
