The more I look at this, it looks home brew. That case has been opened. I know that they have change the xbox bit, and there will be a V2, but I can tell you that it will not come with a hd-dvd drive, and it will not come with a 120gig hard drive. They may add a HDMI, but it will support 1080P already with an adapter. (buy the way, Ps3 will not, it downgrades to1080i or 720p)

Doubts about the validity of the existence of HDMI equipped Xbox 360s can be put to rest. X-Scene.com has received both high-resolution images of the dev-console and a video explicitly demonstrating a dev-unit in action via HDMI/DVI.
X-Scene.com also takes care to note the addition of a new scaler chip on the Zephyr's motherboard. The "HANA" chip appears to have replaced the v.1 360's "ANA" scaler chip. A possible correlation between a digital scaler for HDMI (H-ANA) and the regular analog scaler (ANA) is easy to draw. Microsoft has been evasive in the past regarding whether or not the v.1 Xbox 360 could potentially output a digital signal.
In a Q&A session in which IGN pressed Microsoft on the issue of the Xbox 360's newly announced 1080p capabilities, IGN inquired, "Can the X360 send out a digital signal now, or ever?" Microsoft responded, "Xbox 360 currently doesn't include a digital out connection for video. Our platform is flexible enough to allow support of a digital connection in the future should we choose to do so. When the Xbox 360 was being developed HDMI was nascent and with our current connections we support what the overwhelming majority of consumers have available to them. It's important to note that the market penetration of 1080p displays is in the single digits. Regardless, for those early adopters who have displays and projectors that support 1080p over VGA and component we have a solution and it is a free upgrade for them. We are watching the market closely and will continue to evaluate our solution in the face of consumer demand, but have no announcements regarding additional cables or connections.
Microsoft chose not to clarify that the current 360 models could not output digital, but that the system could include a digital scaler in future. While the demonstrations thus far have been of a dev-unit 360, it seems likely the new Zephyr 360 will become widely available relatively soon. Though current owners may feel somewhat jipped, especially if the Zephyr is sold for $400 or little more, which is likely, it is worth noting that most users will only encounter a true need for HDMI out if they have a 1080p display.Muscle Asylum Project Athlete

Well that is kind of ****ed up because I bought one last week. Ohh well I dont own a HDTV anyway and I wont within this year so it doesnt matter to me. I just skimmed the article but I dont se where they mention faster processor, just cooler. If all games play just as well on both I cant say I care much. If some games will only play well on the new one then microsoft are assholes.
People buy a consol because they know it will last a good 4-5 years. Not to have to buy a new one within a year.

In some ways cooler does mean faster, plus the 360 has inherent overheating issues which will hopefully be addressed with a lower power cosumption from the new smaller 65nm chip!!

If microsoft wants to play it nice they should have as special offer for all xbox 360 owners that they can trade the old box with the new one for a resonable cost and not have to dish out the whole ammount. Or replace all broken xbox 360 v1 with v2.
