Back in the day of daemons and witches one could argue that there was a god, and he was cruel and unforgiving to bad people and kind and loving to the good.
Like the time old question then, why do bad things happen to good people? Because the tripe they believed 1000 years ago still exists in the minds of the faithful to this day, but in reality the vast majority know better.
Take Islam for instance, a man named Mohammad who sought refuge in a cave high in the mountains. For years he lived in isolation there, while he was there he began to have revelations from the Angel Gabriel.
On his regular trips to the local villages at the foot of the mountains he repeated his revelations to the simple folk in the villages. They in turn took down notes to which is now commonly known as The Koran.
If this happed today who in all honesty would believe this crazy guy who lived in a cave and was probably high on methane gas that had pooled in the cave....
I once had a discussion about religion to a keen Muslim friend of mine. He said to me all his pillars of belief and such.... i then returned with the question of... "what about the big bang"?
He replied to say that it does actually state in the scriptures that there was a big bang but not one that scientists are trying to make out. it was caused by the gods etc.....
By that time i had heard enough and thought so all religion is saying that either the big bang didnt happen or it did happen because the gods made it happen.....
Religion sucks because its founded on teh faith and belief of the retards who go before it. Its you that makes things happen.
It makes me laugh when you hear the likes of Matt Hughes saying "god gave him strength to win the fight and keep the other guy safe".... ok Matt where was he against GSP........... maybe he likes GSP more than you.
Faith is good, it makes people feel great. The one thing you should have faith in more than anything is yourself not some god that you dont even know exists after. How can you have faith in something that is not 100% accurate.... i mean its lying to yourself.
At the end of the day, having faith and reciting scriptures and hymns is no more a good comfort than meditating in a darkened room to your favorite chill out music... mine being Ludovico Einauid
My faith lives within me.Last edited by Odpierdol_sie!; 11-27-2008 at 07:11 AM.

Folk are unlikely to murder eachother over a scientific debate - they tend to cooperate and learn, only differences in faith views (however slight it seems to me) can give people the 'divine right' to slaughter en masse whoever is different.
If there really is a god (God?) then he is quite powerless, that much is obvious. Perhaps he is uncaring, or perhaps the world worships a demon..
