You're correct. Brain fart, in the middle of a Getrag build. Must have spilled over a bit.

How can you say the engine loves boost, when all you save is the block?
How much money did you throw into an unworthy engine block?
throw in something that can make real power.

I don't understand econo box tuners because they say they love honda's, but...they change the engine, trans, all the rest of the drivetrain components, brakes, wheels, tires, radio, interior, body pannels, exaust, engine management....what was it you liked about the car again?
Then you end up with a fairly fast but retardly expensive still econobox with no resale value.

maybe they like the body look? ROFL. but i agree.
nice video.. is the driver trying to do that or is he just terrible? you'd think with that much power you could at least keep it on the track with all that wheelspin.
also, that reminds me of the vw gti they made with a bentley w12 6.0L in it. vw using all their subsidiary cars to make a beast stuck in a gti body. interesting concept since they just did it for kicks.

I think the guy was doing a burn-out show for the camara and not really trying to go around the track.
That vw is ridic...Short wheelbase and rwd is a recipe for oversteer, but I bet with the suspension set up better and more importantly a proper stability control program it could have put down better lap times and not have been so nasty to drive. When it comes down to it that's just it, economy car's aren't made to become race cars. Trying to make something into what it's not and will never be is like waxing a turd.
FWD has it's own host of problems...I drive a car with fwd because it snows where I live, and because I drive a lot for work didn't want to go to all wheel drive for the fuel economy. I'm afraid of oversteer in the snow. But it's poorly suited to any type of true performance application. As most of the weight is up front, a fwd car is not as well balanced therefore it doesn't handle quite as well. Torque steer (when the steering wheel pulls to one side during acceleration) is a serious issue with many front wheel drive cars that exceed 250hp. My Saab has pretty nasty torque steer if I get on it and because fwd unloads the front wheels with traction control off it will spin tire all the way through 2nd gear.
FWD isn't any better suited for the track...what you see in the VW video with rear wheel drive = a nasty overseer problem (in that car snap oversteer). But, FWD with high power suffer from the opposite, nasty understeer. In other words rather than having the rear end snap around they plow through corners, and end up on the wide side. Plus with the poor weight distribution you're relying far too much on your front rubber. The absence of drive shafts (half shafts) and CV joints in the front of the car allows the front suspension to be designed for maximum steering efficiency. The lower rotating weight of the front wheel assemblies improves steering response and grip.
FWD is equally bad at the drag strip as on the track...if you watch a rear wheel drive take off from a stand still it squats down in the back and the nose lifts up. This is because of the rotation of the tire, you are actually putting more weight on the rear wheels as you step on the gas. In the extreme if you watch a drag car, you've got 100% of the weight on the back tires with RWD. On all but the slipperiest surfaces rear wheel drive cars accelerate faster than a front drive car from a stop. In a front drive car, when the weight goes to the rear, weight is taken off of the front wheels. The front wheels spin thus losing traction. If the wheels are spinning not only does this slow you down but it also makes it difficult to steer the car.
FWD worse for stopping too...because of weight distribution front tires need to do a greater share of the stopping.
BMW's and true performance cars are either RWD or to make them more user friendly for the average driver AWD for a reason.

Being a mustang guy I would think you would agree you replace every peice in a mustang block (and that's what they do to the honda blocks) it would handle more than a honda block. 25psi pushing 800hp is not that uncommon in a mustang block.
Rouch makes a kit boosting to 700 hp. That's how common it is. They even make a version with a 3year/36k mile waranty in a version only boosted to 500hp/500lb/ft torque aprox...try doing that with a honda block.

better to make more power with minimal boost
boost pressure = hot air
hot air = pre-det and lower air density

lol kratos i don't feel like quoting that whole thing, but yeah i definitely know about the oversteer and understeer. i've driven a decent spectrum of cars, mostly my friends, so a few bmws, a benz, a cobra, a 00 a4, an 08 a4, some nissans, a couple hondas, and others. the fwd ones with actual power definitely lift up in the front.
i thought a lot of saabs were awd? my dads bmw is rwd and handles snow decently. its not very powerful (2.5l i6, i think 186hp?) it makes it up the hills to my house fairly well. the WORST car i've ever seen in the snow is my moms avalon. its an 07 fully loaded, with fwd, and the japanese didn't think to put in a button to turn off traction control. seriously, this thing will get on any incline with snow, make it up 5 ft, then slide back down cause it won't even let you spin the tires.... worst thing i've ever seen. oh yeah, not to mention it feels like you are riding in a boat among the clouds. i don't like that car at all.
for that vw, its just crazy they would think of that. the car is way too small for that much power, and it could never be practical. but its interesting to see what they can come up with.
and in general, i like rwd more than fwd. awd can be iffy, but a good system on a good car is nice.

yes that is true.. teske 4.6 blocks tha t were in the older mark 8 and 96-98 cobras can handle well over 1000 hp.. the bottom end suck on the stangs..hyperpathetic internals not good for much over 400hp and thats pushing it..03-04 terminators[cobra] has forged bottom end and they start giving away around 800... and that m5 is a bad ass car but slow..
