It cheaper to run a custom buiild then a 2stroke race, they need a full rebuild every couple hundread miles, 16,000rpm and 50bhp from a 125 lol, you need deep pockets, thats why I sold it, it was killing me, a weekend at the track meant 4-6 sets of tyres, rebuild, any bodywork that I damaged, fuel, pads, 2toil at about 30euro a litre(race oil), track fee's it was big $$$$$$
Build a kark with bike engine and it cost nothing to run and stupidly fast.......

yeah 1 down 5 up, standard bike gearbox, push into first then pull for rest of the way up, clutchless shift, just lift the throttle, clutch is only for taking off or showing off lol

the only suspension is by running tyre pressure a little lower to absorb it lol
my back used to be black and blue sometimes if I done 6-8hr in a day, rock hard plastic seat, and no belt to hold you in place so you try brace off steering wheel, and get thrown around alot
and your literally wrecked too, very tiring

Lady asked if I had any experience.
I said no.
Then she asked what made me choose welding.
I said... go karts.

if they ask say you laboured for welder and have basic knowledge, you can bullshit your way through it, you prepared the welds (grind the material) cleaned up welds ( removed slag) tack the joint ( put plant on material and press button lol)
alot of places want you have half decent knowledge so they dont want to show basics, mabey it different since you have different stages and start at beginner but I know if I said that for my course I been turned away, we had to be albe to weld, they just showed us where we were going wrong and how to pass the test
And we got to play with funky oxy/acetaline torch and plasma cutters, if you like me and like fires then you love this, cut steel like butter lol

Yeah this is a school where they show you basics, go over all the aspects of safety, and blah blah.
So my lack of knowledge wont hinder me.

you will pick it up quick, welding is either something you can do or cant if that makes sense, if you dont have a hand for it and pick it up in few weeks then you never will, but you seem like you have a bit of savvy so im sure you be fine
go for it mate, good career and good work, and welders are usually a bit mental so good ''craic'' on the job
you wont regret it

I have to crap but don't feel like it.
