what do you wish you were doing?
What are you currently doing as a career and what do you wish you could be doing?
I'm currently a 35f in the US army. At least i'm going threw the job school. I want to apply for the physical therapy though, the army offers a program that gets you your masters and makes you a CO. that's my dream right now

My man you have a tough long road ahead of you, please whatever you do do not VW and never quit. When at RASP finish every day as strong as you can and you will make it.
BAC is no joke, so do not fall out of any runs, this is where most either VW or are kicked out.
Once you have a VW on your record, no school will accept you. Our motto was either we would graduate, die trying, or let the cadre kick you out. Let the cadre assess you and do not asses yourself.
Never quit

Thanks man. Why are you wanting to switch from intel to physical therapy? If you don't mind me asking, because those are pretty different

So basically you want Obama to pay you more in your welfare check while the rest of us work harder on your behalf? You DID say in another thread that you enjoyed said benefits and even commented on that being the reason you voted for Obama. Just making a friendly observation.

Hard to improve a skill that you don't want to use.
I'm really considering getting my ass into school for close to a decade. It just sounds so far out of reach, but I have no experience to get a half decent paying job again.

I work in finance but I wish I had gone to med school. I get that being a doctor or a surgeon is a very stressful job with many frustrations but I think it could be more interesting and rewarding than what I am doing now.
Sitting at a desk for 12 + hours a day is bad for your health (mental and physical).
Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking what I do now, there's a lot I do like about it and the pay is good. I just wonder sometimes if I should have taken a different route.

I've done bridge work, been a garbage man, now I'm working in a factory. Pay isn't the best but it provides for the family. Dropped out of college after my third year. White collar world just isn't for me.

I have ex relatives like that and know a few old/ex friends also pretty much living off the state and have the mentality if it's there or available you might as well take it. Not one of them are happy, not really, none of them have anything near what I do and I'm not just talking about materialistic. None of them have a real life. They just settle for what they have, what is given to them and survive. Surviving is not living. If I want something I go out and work to get it, I dont expect someone else to give it to me and I usually get what I want within reason. I also take care of what I have since I work for it not like most people when something is given to them they dont appreciate it and dont maintain it so soon enough it's just another POS laying around.
Most women or at least any that are respectable are not interested in a guy that does not have any drive or ambition because that means there is no real future and no room for improvement. Sorry but I think all welfare and such should be eliminated except in extreme cases or at least set up only on a temporary basis.

I do agree, and I don't officially do Jack Shit.
I been doing shit the whole time and milking the system that put me here. Had a "real" job, it got jacked. Might as well get some free shit. Kinda free, I worked all the way from 15 till 2 years ago. Tried getting a job similar to mine, but I would take a 50% pay cut. Yeah, I'll pass. . . I get that for doing nothing.

If you are talking about unemployment I have no issues with that. We and our employer pay into that and it's part of our benefits for situations like getting laid off. All unemployment benefits that are not used eventually end up lining some politicians pocket somewhere. Big difference between unemployment benefits and welfare. Dont confuse the two.
I also say enjoy your time off the best you can under the circumstances. It's not often you get an extended amount of time off with partial pay. Ive been there, done that. I also worked since I was 15 or 16 full time during the summer and full time after high school. Eventually I got a job at a BIG company and worked for 5 years before getting laid off for almost a year going to school on my time off and some job search before getting hired back. Got laid off again a few years later. Same drill, more school but also did a fair bit of playing, camping, traveling and raising my daughter.
Enjoy it while it last because soon enough you will be back to the old grind wishing you had some time off.Last edited by lovbyts; 06-25-2012 at 06:20 AM.

I'm a food service director/chef at a college, two things I would like to do 1) Teach Culinary Arts, I love teaching & training (which Ive done a ton) I actually worked with my friend free for 2yrs because I like it BUT to teach full time I would have to finish my BA (just have culinary degree + some college) which would cost 30g and I would end up making LESS than I do now 2) I want to open a Grill & Bar, I want to make things that people go "DAMN! Rob's place has the best xxx, almost everything on the menu is screamin'" Ima do 20 things great instead of 50 things mediocre!!
