Long distance relationships are HARD, really really hard. Been there done that; didn't work even after dating for 3 years. As soon as I moved; relationship went to shit. I was living in NE and she was living in GA. My original plan when moving was to see her every weekend. We would take turns flying (1.5 hour flight) back and forth. I would go to GA one weekend and she would come to NE the next. That didn't work out so well not only because of cost, but because the airlines suck. Half the time the flights were delayed/cancelled and that would ruin the whole weekend because by the time you got in on "Friday" it was technically already Saturday and you have to leave again in less than 24 hours to go home. All that stress plus doubts on whom should do what killed it. I had a good job, she had a good job, both were willing to live together and in the end it was A LOT of stress that destroyed everything after 3 years of being together.

So- the chances of you hooking up (beyond meaningful one night stands) with some dude 1,000 miles away are pretty slim.
