Vettes have their place, other than the GTR, they are best bang for the buck. Build quality has been an issue for some time now, but they do impress on the track.

Vette is nothing more than a brand now. There are so many other cars that out perform a standard Vette for less money. To get a "fast" Corvette you need to buy a ZR1 which is over priced like no tomorrow. Think about this... Porsche for example offers a Carerra S which is 2 liters and two cylinders less in size than a Porsche; and is faster. Then don't even mention a Nissan GTR which will hand even the ZR1 its ass for less money. Furthermore the Vette is all plastic- in and out. It has the interior quality of a Honda Civic but its a $60K+ car. My girlfriends VW Jetta has a nicer interior than a fully loaded Vette.
I can keep going all day.... its a POS. If anything... its a "I'm retired" statement for old men.

Uhm.. no... You're talking to a car addict. I've own them all.... I have a small collection (5 cars) and all are performance vehicles except one; and not one is more than 2 years old. Give me a Porsche 991S and I'll hand a ZR1 its ass with 2 cylinders less and get 28 mpg.
Vettes to me have become an old man car.. but I still respect the numbers they can put up especially the newer ones which are amazingly fast.
I'm guessing you are an import man?
I'm a biggest bang for the buck man. I'd buy an American car if they built one worth buying. I was eyeing that nutty 800 HP GT500 Mustang for a bit till they announced the price tag (for a Mustang). I like Porsche, Bentley, Noble, and MB AMG. I've owned every single one of them and a Vette has yet to be in my sights. I actually track cars so I look for chassis performance more than HP and its REALLY hard to beat a Porsche; even the Cayman. I bought a 991S when they first came out and its unreal on the track; only a 6 cyl naturally aspirated. Nothing like passing a ZR1 in the corners in a 6 cyl....

Neither Viper nor Vette are worth the money. Look at what you are getting- a piece of plastic with a Honda Civic quality interior.... for real. When you spend $50K+ on a car.... you should get more than injected molded plastic. Look at a simple VW Passat. $32K car and it has a nicer interior than a $100K ZR1 and even worse the ZR1 isn't even that fast. Its a joke that GM only gets 450 HP out of a V8 base model Vette when Porsche, Nissan, etc. are getting 425+ out of a 6 cyl..... Would I buy an American sports car- yes.... when they build one worth the money.

I'd buy an Aventador if I had an extra $500K to blow, lol. Problem is they are almost impossible to get new unless you're willing to pay $50K over sticker. The car is a beast though. Lambo marketing had them out at the track during an open test/tune track day so you could drive them. They do it quite often actually. Porsche and Ferrari also do this and now apparently Ford SVT. Look at the local race tracks and see if/when they are there. They let you test drive them on track for a few laps so you'll want to buy one, lol.

Depends. Some just a helmet, some nothing but sign a waiver and they have helmets you can wear; and some require you to take an instructor in the passenger seat. Look at Road Atlanta's website- I'm sure Porsche has a bunch of days, as well as Mercedes AMG. Porsche HQ in Atlanta so they do a lot of events at Road Atlanta and Barber in Alabama. There are also events like AMG Experience which is a driving school that's relatively cheap where you can go out and beat the hell out of any AMG model you want. Porsche and Ferrari do this to. The free events are typically for past owners or new owners; and usually a marketing/sales event. I always get shit in the mail to come to a Porsche event and Bentley event since I bought them. The Bentley event isn't on the track though- private viewing of the new model(s) at the local dealership.

its about 12 hours drive to get here but I can put you in whichever car you want to try... This year we will have an MC12, Enzo (maybe 2), McLaren is not confirmed yet and then about 3 dozen various exotics (Ferraris, Lambos, Ford GT etc.)... not sure if you seen the video when I posted it last summer, but here was the event feed that ran on CTV news (30 second commercial at begining)
