In NC, you have "a duty to retreat" (that means RUN !) from a threat, UNLESS, you are: A: In your Home B: In you vehicle

The home part I get............... The vehicle, I think you should retreat. You have a 5 ta 6000 lb piece of steel to get you outta harms way pretty quick......but thats how the law reads here.

Here's a strange example that was used in our CCW class:

You are awake to hear someone beating down your front door.
You have no way to determine the threat. (Lost drunk looking for a friend, or crackhead wanting to kill whole family)
If you are in "Fear for your Life" you can shoot through the door at the threat ( I know, I couldnt believe it either)

Now, you hear someone beating down your front door........by the time you get to the living room, the guy has broken down the door, and is now inside your home, and is more than 21 feet from you.........You now have to determine if he is a true threat (does he have gun, knife, club, RPG) before you can defend yourself..........Crazy Huh?

The law is written to be a very gray thing.............Justice my peeps is what you can make 12 people believe!!!

my wife carries a taurus pt740 that's a 40 cal.. very small .91" thick... it comes in a 9mm the 709 exact same size...

in a 380 cal.... sig sauer 238 comes in a ladies model as well as many different color combos... 15.2 oz..

Avtually the report i read showed that the amount of burgleries (home invasions) has increased tremendously..mainly due to the armed criminals no longer fearing an armed citizen encounter!

I have a good friend who is a detective at the PD where we live. He let me know that home invasions are up tremendously, and 2 houses within a 1/2 mile of us have been hit just recently. He mentioned the homicide rate is aiming to double this year. What's this all about?? It's about criminals being let out of jail early, and it's about cutting down on the budget for police officers. It's also about stupid people not having any real fear for consequence for doing any crime. It's almost like a fad. Now people might understand why LA is the capital for high speed chases. As for the invasions, these guys don't target the hood, they target places where they think they can get $$, jewelry, musical instruments, etc... Things they don't have!

We won't tolerate any of it. I already had a run-in a few months with a young man of color, who thought it was etiquette to dump his trash in front of my neighbors house.And of course I'm the racist when he's confronted.

It's liberal nation for sure! And like my friend at the PD says, "you won't see 99% of the stuff happening anywhere with the press"! If granted a CCW in Cali, it's only valid in CA, and our state won't recognize any other states. To overcome that, I also have a non resident CCW for AZ, and in the process of getting FL. There's a decent CCW application on IPhone if people want to check out the rules, restrictions, and reciprocity laws for each state.

Sounds like you were down in Oceanside? If you have to be stationed out here, that's as good of place as any. I'm originally from Colorado, which is where I'd like to see us go at some point. We keep getting into various business ventures that keep us here for the time being ...

I use a very basic FOBUS holster when off! I rec. using the KISS method when choosing holsters! Don't get caught up in levels of retention and shyt! Just more bells and whistles making it moredifficult to draw! Just make sure its comfy and covers the trigger guard! The brands you mentioned esp. Uncle Mikes..are very good!

it's single action and because of the added weight easy to cycle the slide.... here's the real issue/complaint many have with it.. they are under the impression that it needs to be carried in condition 1 (cocked and locked)...

becoming situationally aware of the dangers around you will allow her to keep it without a bullet in the chamber.. example, she's at the office, and it's 6pm dark in the parking garage, she feels fearful, she reaches in the purse and chambers a round.. keeps her hand on the gun and continues to the car..

in a restaurant and a shooter comes in and starts shooting people (unless she's the 1st one shot) she has time to ready the firearm and deploy it.. ..

my wife can shoot any of our handguns, but she prefers the sig...238.. but within 25 feet, she'll moa is 1" with any of them..

depends on what type of clothing you wear.. smart carry is what i use mostly... youtube has several women that run many reviews on both guns and holsters.. the holster ones are very informative..
