I know we owe china a lot, and yes they are invested here but so are most other country's in the world. At one time we owed Germany, Japan, Britain boatloads of money, do they own us? No they don't. Just because we borrow money doesn't mean they own us. And china can't just call in the loans because that is not how it works. And we wouldn't pay them anyways if that could happen. Most country's invest in the United States because we are the largest economy in the world. Yes our country is weaker economically, then we were 10 years ago but so is most of the country's of the world. China is hurting just as bad as anyone else and most likely even more so due to them spending trillions on city's where no one lives, and yes they are polluting their ppl and their country. All I'm saying is the United States is a global leader in most areas and far more advanced than china.

Aren't we already bankrupt?? Last time I checked, $16,740,513,632,861 in debt is pretty much bankrupt. We aren't even able to pay the interest on it. My banks would take everything I owned if I only paid part of my interest every month. Yours and my share - $52,883.59
Let me get my checkbook.

It's actually physically impossible to pay off the debt in full. Even if every single person in America paid every cent they had to Uncle Sam, we only have enough to cover the initial principal of the debt. The money to pay for the interest doesn't exist. So we'd still have to borrow more money to pay that off.
The entire monetary system as a whole needs to be re-worked as this fractional banking and fiat currency thing isn't going to end well for us.

Obama asking Congress (the peoples elected representatives) is the way the founders intended it to be. It is a shame that we are 'impressed' when a President does what hes SUPPOSED to do, and follows the Constitution. It shows the degree to which the Executive branch has grabbed power, and usurped the Constitution of the United States, and the powers which were specifically relegated to Congress...
With regards to what Wmaousley said. It is not absurd to think of those things, it is perfectly sane, and they are things which the government did not TRADITIONALLY have a role in. It's just like those that simply cant imagine life without a Federal Income Tax. Well, there was never intended to be a Federal Income Tax, and that tax does not pay for ANY essential services which we rely on.
Finally, one phrase which I must take issue with, is anyone who tries to make an argument and inserts or ends it with "WAKE UP." This is a nonsensical meaningless term, which is often used by people who cannot put together reasoned arguments with coherent points that make sense. It imparts the idea that the opposing party is somehow asleep at the wheel, and that the user of such a phrase has something profound to say, when most often the opposite is true. If you make a compelling argument, your reader should be enlightened, and therefore it is not necessary for them to wake up. The two most often used phrases by those who have very poor arguments, and usually are speaking from emotion, rather than knowledge and intelligence, are "WAKE UP," and "Learn your history," or some variation there of. If I could eliminate both phrases and any permutation thereof from the English language, I most certainly would.

I don't believe in supporting or demoralizing presidents because there is no point...
They are just a picture on the wall to look at and point fingers at...
Congress makes and passes laws....Not the President...U.S is not a communist country and the "leader" does not command and govern all laws...
Once people realize that the president is NOT to blame everyone will be much better....Regardless WHO is president, the SAME law will be passed GUARANTEED.
Hey, here is a question. Ever ask yourself why a law passes in a state, county or city yet it STILL gets DISAPPROVED?
How can that be? It was on a ballot, the people voted and it passed...So wait, how did it get appealed then?
Don't blame the residents in your county for voting wrong and don't blame the president...The laws that congress wants to pass will pass...

Also, Have I heard of a veto? Yes, I have
Do I know that the president has authority to make calls of military, navy, marines, air force etc? Yes, I do..
But you have to realize the BIG picture behind it all...Just like the BIG picture motion films...
Is it REALLY the actor that makes the movie? Or is it the director? The script writer? The DP (Digital Photographer)? The editor? The composer of soundtrack?

Why are people even talking about Syria? Because it's on the news? Because NOW it's popular subject? lol
How about we talk about trade agreements?
You realize every POOR country is due to the power house countries?
They are NOT poor because they have bad government or economical powers...It's because of trade...
If people don't agree they lose and it's through economical trade and import and export...That's HOW countries get SHUT DOWN!

And so people MAYBE get the drift a little bit further.....
Mexico?
One of the largest Drug "Smuggling" countries in the world and they are right below us...
There is so much going on here..Drug smuggling into US territory...Which equals more drug dealers, more money laundering, killings, drug abuse (Which equals health care, welfare etc to US citizens), illegal immigration etc etc etc..
So out of ALL the countries in the world shouldn't Mexico be on a priority for war? Our next door neighbors?
Yet, why does US do nothing about that? Why? Because US doesn't CARE....Why? Because we are allies with Mexico....Why? Because we do trade with Mexico....
Now do we shut them down economically someways? Yes, that's why they are poor country....
Not allies, costing US money = WAR

I'm sure about that...
But I truly have no discrimination towards anything or anyone...As long as it's right...
And hell, if I lived in Mexico I would do the same thing..Who wouldn't? Poor country, no work, rape, assault, killings on and on....I would also try to escape to a better place...Not their fault...
The only fault is the leaders of countries (AKA their Subordinates)...That's it
No country cares about what's wrong or right...As long as they prosper

Good post.
There is only one reason Obama is waiting on congress. He's put himself in a bad spot, he made his comments about the red line, and as a result, he has to say we need to take action or he looks soft. However, he has no desire for the attack, and he's hoping congress won't either. This way, he can say that he stood by his prior statements but congress held him back.
And yes, we are always shocked when the president follows the constitution, even if it is for reasons of protecting his own hide. After all, following it doesn't tend to happen all that often.

The executive branch has begun to legislate for a long time now, more and more every year. Past presidents have done it and so has the current, although the current has taken it further than anyone else in a much more direct way.
For this small meaningless won't accomplish anything other than cost us a massive amount of money we don't have attack, the president does not need the approval of congress. By executive decree, he can issue an attack without the approval of congress for up to 60 days. If 60 days is to pass, congress must approve. Is it constitutional? No, but it's one of those strange laws that was put into place decades ago for the presidents benefit, i.e. giving the executive extreme power it was never intended to have.
And the laws congress want to pass do not always pass. You just admitted in the next pass there is the executive veto. Rarely is a veto overturned unless the residing party in the executive has a massive majority in congress, which this president does not.
The president legislates constantly. Just a few days ago Obama by executive order put into law two issues related to guns that would require congressional approval if they were in session. Two laws that congress voted down earlier this year.

George sums up my opinions here nicely, people hate the fact that he speaks the truth....
George Galloway HEATED Speech British Parliament Debate On Military Action Against Syria. 8/29/2013 - YouTube
Lets not pretend that Syria are the first country to use chemical weapons in recent times, Israel use them against the Palestinians on a regular basis yet most see this as "acceptable"...
The truth is Obama and the normal US citizens want no part of this, but you have no choice because the Israelis demand a response and the US will comply.....

The biggest killer of all is everyone's fake religion...Ain't that ironic?
I thought religion was about caring about people and treating others how you want to be treated...I guess everyone got that message wrong...

No, what it means is the essence of her religion...Meaning, she really TRULY doesn't care about her religion or else she wouldn't have had sex to begin with...
Therefore, it's not about her religion...It's about RIGHT OR WRONG in her eyes....
So really she doesn't believe in her religion she just believes in right or wrong....So why fake a religion when that's not what you believe in?

They purposely attack innocent women and children? I assume you're talking about Palestinians, the very people whose sole existence and purpose in life is to kill Jews. So the Jewish people fight back, and you bet, innocent civilians are killed along the way. Is it on purpose? No, they're after the ones attacking them. Unfortunately, the so-called "Innocent" also harbor the terrorist and stand right by them, praise what they do and then wonder why their dead. Oh, that's right, they were standing by a terrorist holding his hand.
And I know the comment to come (maybe not by you but someone always says it)...the Palestinians are merely fighting the occupiers who took their land. If that's true, we should allow American Indians to start terrorizing the U.S. However, there's a big difference. The Jews were there first. How or where this got confusing for some people, that I really don't understand.
Whether religious or completely secular, all history recognizes the Jewish kings from thousands of years ago. All history recognizes Solomon and his father David and all the kings that followed. They existed long before the Palestinian race was even a race of people. They were the original state of Israel, which was located in the same exact spot it is today.
Helpful historical facts:
*Israel became a state in 1312 B.C.
*Islam became a religion 2000yrs later
*The nation of Israel held complete control of that land for more than 1000yrs and had a very large population there since 1312 B.C.
*The only time in history any Arab peoples every ruled that land lasted for a mere 22yrs.
*Palestinians first became a race of people in 1967
*All wars initiated since the modern state of Israel came into existence were initiated by Arab nations. 5 wars in all.
*The Jewish capital since the existence of the Jews has always been Jerusalem. The muslim capitol has never existed there or anywhere near there.
One more important, very important note: When the modern state of Israel came to be, not one Arab was asked to leave. The mass exodus was funded by surrounding Arab nations who encouraged all Arabs to leave so that they were not hurt in the planned Jewish annihilation. The majority left, no military force or threat of force was issued. Those that stayed formed the nation of Palestine.
