Things You Would Tell Your 20 Year Old Self?
What are the the things you wish you can change if you were go back to being 20? Or something that you glad you did at that age.
I can't answer this question since I'm only 23, but I know a lot of older men are on this forum with life experience.
So share with us. Maybe it could help someone make better decisions.
I'm just glad I went to college and will soon graduate. Also, I started building my credit few years ago just by borrowing money through a secure loans. Interests are dirt cheap with the secure loan. So right now I have a good credit history.Last edited by DexterMorgan; 09-15-2013 at 09:56 AM.

If you have a dream, go for it and screw what anyone else says.
Besides death, there is not outcome that can be worse than not following what your heart truly wants. I let fear hold me back a lot when I was young and now I know that it was just the fear of failure. F*** failure, who cares if you fail, who cares what others think, just go for it and give 100%!! Life is so short that there isn't time to not just grab the bastard (life) by the horns and shake it around until you get what you want. Nobody will ever give you what you desire, you have to make it happen for yourself.
Also, don't buy that piece of shit house you are thinking about in 1998. It's a money pit and a lemon and you will lose almost $5K after you fix it up and go to sell it!

Nothing. It's the mistakes I've made and the lessons learned that have molded and shaped who I am.

Good Lord, if I could go back I would in a heartbeat!!! I would say:
Choose a profession that makes you happy, life is too short to be stuck in a cubicle all day.
Save as much money as possible & live as debt free as possible. Cash is king!
Life is short, enjoy every day.
Explain how important a clean & healthy diet is. Don't eat garbage fast food, poisonous processed foods with preservatives & ingredients that look like laboratory chemicals, the FDA is full of crap & buy organic foods.
Be yourself, don't kiss anyones ass or change who you are for anyone. That craps gets you nowhere & only pisses you off.
Life is too short, make the best of it.
Most importantly tell my 20 year old self where to find my wife, ask her out & marry her ASAP.
Oh ya, life is too short, enjoy every second of it, you never know when it will end.

I was 20 in 1990 so I would tell that guy to buy MSFT, Apple, Intel, AT&T, ATI and nVidea hold it and sell in 2007. Buy gold with the cash in 2007 and retire because gold will quadruple by 2012.
I wouldn't try to guide anything else. I like my life and who I am. I just wish I wasn't broke.

1. Never make hasty decisions, sleep on it, a week if necessary! always make a logical decision.
2. Don't under any circumstances use recreational drugs!
3. Trust no one completely, things have a way of coming back to haunt you.
4. If you want to keep a secret, TELL NO ONE!
5. make sure to take time for yourself, don't wait till your 65 to start your bucket list

I don't think there is anything I'd tell myself at 20 (including to not get in the car that one night). I had a lot of good things happen and a lot of bad things happen in my adult life, but anything different and I wouldn't be who I am right now.
Besides, if you could go back in time and get rid of every mistake you made in life, the good times you had wouldn't have been so good.
If I had to tell myself something, it probably would've been the same thing Marcus said and just had tried to enjoy the ride through life a little more.

Dear Fcastle357 If my calculations are correct, you will receive this letter immediately after you saw the DeLorean struck by lightning. First, let me assure you that I am alive and well. I've been living happily these past eight months in the year 1885. The lightning bolt that hit the DeLorean caused a gigawatt overload which scrambled the time circuits, activated the flux capacitor, and sent me back to 1885. The overload shorted out the time circuits and destroyed the flying circuits. Unfortunately, the car will never fly again. I set myself up as a blacksmith as a front while I attempted to repair the damage to the time circuits. Unfortunately, this proved impossible because suitable replacement parts will not be invented until 1947. However, I've gotten quite adept at shoeing horses and fixing wagons. I have buried the DeLorean in the abandoned Delgado Mine, adjacent to the Old Boot Hill Cemetery, as shown on the enclosed map. Hopefully, it should remain undisturbed and preserved until you uncover it in 1955. Inside you will find repair instructions. My 1955 counterpart should have no problem repairing it so that you can drive it back to the future. Once you have returned to 1985, destroy the time machine. Do not, I repeat, do not attempt to come back here to get me. I am perfectly happy living in the fresh air and the wide-open spaces, and I fear that unnecessary time travel only risks further disruption of the space-time continuum. And please take care of Einstein for me. I know that you will give him a good home. Remember to walk him twice a day, and that he only likes canned dog food. These are my wishes; please respect them and follow them. And so Fcastle357, I now say farewell and wish you Godspeed. You've been a good, kind, and loyal friend to me. You've made a real difference in my life. I will always treasure our relationship and think on you with fond memories, warm feelings, and a special place in my heart. Your friend in time, Fcastle357 September 1, 1885.
