Tattoo's
Ive got few tats but ive been designing a sleeve which I am very close to getting down. My problem is do you think it will make my arm look smaller? the ones ive seen make arms look smaller and you cant see the vascularity. Any ideas how to flow with the muscle to help bring out the size and even give an illusion of more size rather than looking smaller?

First of all I don't think its possible to make your arms look small.
In the last year I have gotten My right side chest, shoulder and back done and I will say when I look in the mirror it does seem to make me look smaller on that side. Some of my friends in the gym have full sleeves and it does seem to make their arms look smaller just because its hard to see the vascularity.

I echo the fact that it would be impossible to make you look small, Marcus.
I have a 1/2 sleeve on my right delt and upper arm. I actually think it makes that arm look larger. It does cover vascularity, though.
Horizontal lines / designs can make something look wider / langer. So for instance, a snake wrapping around the arm would be better than a design running down the arm.

Only advice I can offer is to work with your artist. He's got the experience to give you insight into this.

I'd personally be afraid to do it but Marcus with your size its not gonna matter. May hide some vascularity but you def won't be small

It will cost double for marcus to get a tattoo compared to the rest of us just due to the fact there is twice as much arm to cover.

My half sleeve got pushed back to may 7th. I'm getting a belgian historical figure with a cathedral and then all the masks used durring the belgian carnival. It'll be surrounded with clouds and I'm going to incorporate the lion In to the clouds.
The right artist will know how to make it work on your body. They can work with your shape and accentuate curves

I don't think small is going to be an issue! I dont know much about the art of tatoo's. But heres my .02 cents anyways. I would think dark lines or colors around the areas to highlight and fade into the larger muscle and us light colors to make it look more pronounced where you want to show off size.
Draw it out first. Send us a sneak peak. Good luck Big Guy!

I saw a dude that tattoo'd "highlighting" around major muscle groups that gave the perception of larger, more defined MG.
I've only tats on my left shoulder, each independent of the other. I have been thinking of sleeving my right, but a smaller version so that when in a polo shirt, it's not visible.
Marcus, snap a pic so we can see?

Definitely take the time to find the right artist. There are a lot of guys doing tattoos, but great artists that can work with you to create exactly what you want and then tattoo it correctly are few and far between. I have a few cover ups of work I did on the cheap or without putting in enough thought; but I've never regretted the ones I had done by a real artist.

Hang the picture of your tat up on the mirror and leave it there for a year. If you still love it than get it. Remember its going to be there a long time and they are not cheap. Also think about that it will look like in 20 years. Your still young. I have one that is over 20 years old and it need to be redone. Color fades

I will understand the significance but most won't. It'll be a good conversation piece too. The masks will help do my cover up so I wanted to stick with my heritage and uses the carnival masks.

You could always go this route.
Being heavily tattooed myself, I can say that having a lot of full coverage tattoos can throw some things off. My arms measure close to the same size. However, the bigger arm looks smaller than the other. Mainly because the tattoos on my bigger arm are flowing down from shoulder to wrist, giving the illusion of a more narrow arm (kinda like the stripes on clothing mentioned above).
Also, the more intricate detail, the harder it is to see how vascular you are. Up close, you can tell, but its harder the further back you are.
Try and search some heavily tattooed bodybuilders. Of course, the leaner you are, the less of an issue any of this is.
Good luck buddy.
EDIT: Also, from another approach, you can design a tattoo to enhance a body part. For instance by creating a full back piece that will create the illusion of more of a V-taper.
