According to the Mayor of London and the PM of France. This is just something we are going to have to accept as the new normal if we are going to live in large cities and civilized societies...

I think I'm fine living way out in the sticks, growing my own food and knowing and caring for neighbors like how I grew up.

Total abolishment of religion. Its the only way by the looks of it. But because us white male christion make up the majority of the west it will never happen. I gave up on religion a long time ago.

It can bring out the goodness of some people, charity, helping the sick etc. But there is no place for it in todays world. Your morals should stem from being human and your upbringing. Not because you went to a building and told hell awaits those who follow.

We already know that, the nazis and communist were all staunch atheists. Stalin eradicated the Russian Orthodox Church, Hitler severely restricted all religions Christian and Jewish. Mao killed thousands of Buddhist monks and millions of practicing Buddhist.

I'm not particularly religious, I don't take the Bible as the literal word of god. But I do believe in the message that Jesus preached. Whether he was the actual son of god or not is irrelevant to me. As a man he said and preached undeniably good things. He expressed the virtues of Being tolerant, forgiving and without judgment. That's how I try to live my life, by those teachings.

As far as we try to move away from the god question, science brings us back. Just an example, we abolish religions then the next religion would be science. Right now in physics, there is a sizable group of well respected scientist that believe (with experimental evidence to back it) that the universe is a 2D hologram and we live in it much like characters in a video game. That inheriently implies that someone or thing has created a reality. Now say we have this camp that believes this to be true and has evidence and another camp that doesn't, but believes we live in a universe that has 11 dimensions of existence. We divid along those camps and start the process of tribilism and human conflict all over again.

I do love your optimism but I for one have lost faith in humanity a long time ago and can only try and be the best person I can be and raise my children in my belief system in an effort to bring them into manhood loving God & respecting people and hope they choose to continue once on their own. But I can tell you right now that if left to their desires the chances are that they would turn out to be worthless pieces of crap like so many of the youth today.

The second part of that is, in the Ten Commandments. Exudos 20:7 we know as: thou shalt not take the lords name in vain. In actuality In the Original texts. It says something slightly but importantly different. In that, thou shall not do something evil in the name of the lord as this is the only sin God will not forgive you for. (Paraphrased)
