Do be careful.
Wear a mask.
I am afraid my gym in NJ will close down again soon enough.

Stop and think about this.
You are allowed to fly and sit about 2-3 feet from someone for hours, walk through crowded airports and touch all of the “contaminated surfaces”, but you are only allowed 10
Family meme era in your house and while waiting in line at Walmart, you are required to stay 6’ apart..... and God Forbid you go to a gym. Let’s make the gym owner go broke, but allow the airlines continue.
Sorry about my rant, but this whole thing is bullshit.
Some airlines allow the center seat and you are actually in contact with the person next to you.

I'm sure law-makers weigh the risks vs benefits. Gyms are not the same as other places. In a gym you sweat and breathe deeply and heavily. You may not get sick, and even if you do get sick, you probably won't die. But you may carry the virus with you and get someone else sick. If you or someone else you infect ends up in the hospital, that's one more bed taken in the hospital. This virus started near the beginning of spring last year and slowed down during the summer. We are just now entering into winter, with many months for the virus to expand and for many more people to get sick.
I get the frustration with not being able to work out and for business owners who depend on income from gyms, but I also understand that sometimes the suffering of a few is necessary to protect the many. Government exists for these types of things, this isn't socialism. You don't say it's socialism when you must drive under 75 mph or when you need to stop at a red light. That's just rules that were put in place to protect us. The police is an extension of government. I don't get how you can be pro police but anti rules/government.
The gym is not essential. Flying, going to grocery stores, eating, etc., is. In a restaurant, you are not moving around breathing heavily the entire time. You sit in one place and order, and then leave when you're done eating. IMO, even restaurants are hot spots for covid, but there are many more restaurants and people who depend on them than gyms. More people would suffer if restaurants closed because simply more restaurants exist and more people are hired by restaurants. Restaurants can still operate curbside, outdoors, or with limited seating and be fairly safe. A gym cannot be safe unless you have just a few people working out.
It sucks for personal trainers, though, and I'm sure a few of you on here are hating the rules because it's affecting your livelihood. I personally would have a gym set up at my home if I did this for a living (well I do and I don't do this for a living lol). If you have to depend on another business' equipment, you unfortunately are screwed when shit happens. Hopefully these vaccines start getting distributed quickly and things get back to normal. That would be a good start to 2021.

Gyms held outdoor classes but I didn’t go. I’m not a fan of working out with mask so I set up a gym in basement. It’s enough and I miss my normal routine.
Just received negative covid test result after in in close contact per CDC guidelines with a gf who had been exposed to Covid positive patient. At first friend said would be tested but changed her mind. My employers holds me to standard of self reporting so was tested because she wouldn’t. Oh well....I’m only responsible for my actions!

I now have enough equipment to really get a good workout at home
Prob is I’m really losing motivation. Working out at home blows - but, at least I’m able
Last night - skipped my every other day workout to stuff my face with pizza & go to sleep early
Like most - I’m the only one who cares about working out in my household. So yeah, #1 thing I’m currently starting to really lack is self motivation
Again
Fuck this year
Face mask bull shit - if this world wasn’t already faceless enough

Find an accountability partner lol... seriously though, I feel you on not being around people who work out. My ex never worked out with me, she just liked to walk and stuff. My current didn't lift before she met me and now she loves the weights. In that way, I'm lucky that there is someone to hold me accountable. I can't be a bitch and not show up if I'm the "coach." But don't beat yourself up over a missed workout. That's a normal thing this time of year. Things slow down, our bodies enter an energy conservation mode. I think there is something to this, just like how animals are more alive in the summer and low-key during the winter. Our conscious minds tell us we're lazy or unmotivated, but our bodies are just doing what they've been doing since the dawn of time.

Thanks for being so kind. Lol
I didn’t really want to include my wife in this - but. . . She’s bigger than she’s ever been. She completely fell off the fitness wagon & is dragging me down.
It sucks - I try not to stress much over it. It’s far from the toughest thing I had to deal with this year.
But, yeah - hard to keep going when no one has your back. . . This is why the gym was so important to me.
I’m still holding myself together, I gained a few Lbs. at most
Again, seriously - fuck this year

Well, for what it's worth, we kinda hold each other accountable here at least a little bit. All you can do sometimes is lead by example and hope they will follow. I set up my gym stuff in the garage, and in a weird way, I feel like the neighborhood is holding me responsible. I see the same people walking every time I work out and they see me.

I just went to the gym it’s madness now they allow 10 people at a time in 1hour blocks. I live in Toronto so you basically have to book at midnight 1 week before as the slots become available. It sucks but atleast I’m getting workouts in. I’m more determined than ever F&$k covid.

I bought a bunch of gear just before Covid sprung up so I can work out at home, but it's not the same, I miss having access to HEAVY weights, machines, and good cardio equipment.... plus the environment is a lot nicer than my shitty little office.
We have 1 hour blocks here in Germany too, or we did, we got locked down start of last week, no idea when we will open up again. I kept hand sanitizer in my pocket and trained with a mask, wasn't a problem for me at all, just the smell of unprocessed ethanol constantly that bugs me a bit, but even that I've gotten used to.
Can't wait for the gyms to open up again.

this is fucking stupid. I dont for one second want to hear anyone thought this thru before making these choices. None of it makes sense, there is no end game.
only game is to have everyone heavily depending on govt to survive.
does anyone think in 3-4 weeks when the new lockdowns are lifted the numbers wont go back up? thjs thing is here to stay, deal with it.
people talk of the ones that died from kung flu but they dont mention the ones that are dying because everything they built and only way to survive is being taken by shutdowns, criminal whats happening to business owners in the name of bullshit science.

Lockdowns and masks to exactly sweet Fanny Adams to slow the spread. Short of a vaccine, the best way to get past this with the least damage to civilization is herd immunity.
If the Chinese did this on purpose, you can bet your last red cent they'll consider it a roaring success and come up with a new virus to unleash on America.

I wish I had space here to have a home gym. I've started looking around for a large enough storage locker and putting something together there.
We're pretty much prisoners arrested for a crime we didn't commit. And there's never going to be an end to this. Every time they'll just put us all on house arrest and take even more of our "privileges" away. We're supposed to be in a free country, but as we all know that's a big joke.
I'm not going to wear a face diaper. I'm so tired of this plandemic.
-
I was thinking about that - get a decent sized storage unit & put together a decent sized gym
But, I’m not spending that much money & it still does nothing for my own motivation

Do you guys think a 5' x 8' locker would be enough space for a half rack and a bench? I'm really thinking about using a storage locker, but out here they can get pretty pricey.

AZ gyms are still open with a bunch of guidelines. Unfortunately my next job will be in NM where gyms are closed down again as of last week. I won't be getting there till about January 5th. I do have a contingency plan though. Texas border is about an hour away, being a red state I doubt gyms will be on lockdown there. Driving an hour to workout for 1.5 hours and then driving an hour back is really going to suck. Its hard enough making time when the gym is 10 minutes away.

I basically got around the face diaper requirement. I got one of those outdoor sports masks with the exhale valves and the filters that go over your mouth and nose. I threw the filter part away so I can pretty much breathe unrestricted. It's still a pain in the ass to have to take it off every time I want a gulp of water.

Yes the governor is thinking about themselves and their own welfare. They wanted to keep the people afraid.
