I'm looking at macro counts for black beans. It says 1 cup of black beans has 40g of carbs. what kind of carbs are these?

Polysaccharide for sure, and beans do have a lot of carbohydrates per serving, however some people don't digest legumes well due to the % of resistant starch. So, if you if you don't process sugar well, use in moderation, otherwise have at it. Also, if combined with brown rice, you'll make up for the lacking essential aminos found in the black beans and form a complete protein.

I love black beans. They're dirt cheap and filling. I always just throw them in a bowl with some brown rice and lean ground beef/chicken.
