45 small frame, no TRT, trying to gain muscle
Hey Guys. I’m looking for input (preferably a model diet) that will put me in the right direction of gaining some muscle mass. I am mostly over in the Hormone Replacement Forum, but they have recommended I come over here for input.
Background, I am 45 years old (46 in Jan). I am 5’6 and currently weigh 165lbs. I would really like to gain 15 to 20 lbs of muscle weight but I have a very hard time gaining weight.
I am currently on HRT right now and take 100mg of Test Cyp a week which keeps my Total Test around 1000, but even with that my gains are few and far between. Have been on this for about 6 months. I work out with weights 3-4 times a week. I am open to any model diets that might help me in the right direction. Supplements are okay, let me know what you recommend.
Thanks!

View the links you were given. Good info there. Main thing is nutrition and training. As you get older you have to train smarter. Learn to train more intense yet brief, with more rest days. You'll be surprised how much you actually have to eat to gain quality muscle. It is not an easy task.....Good luck!
Concur on Creatine!

Thanks for all the input!! I checked out the link to the Harris-Benedict formula calculator and for bulking, it is coming up with about 2900 for me. I also followed the recommendations and down loaded the myfitnesspal app. I have used it all day today to comeup with my 2900 calories for the day. You guys were right, it has been ALOT of food. I will continue to use this app and this calorie goal for a month and see what happens. If anyone hasn't used the myfitnesspal, it is great and easy to use. You can even scan in bar codes off of food containers so you don't have to type it in. Seems alot easier than trying to write everything down.
I'll let you know how things are going in a month.
