Barrack Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8298580.stm
When mentioned, there was some genuine shock and gasps.
The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".
While some will disagree, Arhmadinjad said this will really show how genuine he is in regards to the middle east conflict and Israel/Palestine conflict.
Seems like Obama has to prove something now..

Europe is sending a message that it wants a more Liberal minded America. First Al Gore now Obama, There has to be many more people in this world that have bettered humanity instead of talking about climate change and global challenges. I dont get into the whole I hate Obama thing but I really dont see how he was awarded the Peace Prize. Countless Presidents have restarted the middle east peace process. Having said that, Yeah America!!!

Yah, of course it will. It will decend into the Obama haters making a point, the Obama supporters making a point, both of them the same points, both opinions ignored by each side.
Im not saying he is deserving or not deserving, but time will tell if he does deserve this in the long run. Personally I think my other news thread about the man with Aspergers in the UK who is having his human rights pissed on to appease America and is to be extradited deserves more debate http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...94#post4898794. But unfortunately, every arsehole out there has a spare opinion on Obama. And it doesn't matter what the subject is about, they'll speak it. There could be a article on Obama throwing a banana skin in the street and the negative opinions would be exactly the same as they would be as the ones that will appear in this thread.

it's sickening, he hasn't changed any of bushes foreign policy, his speeches arn't even that different, even on the environment-he just recently sabotaged a meeting in bangkok to implement the kyoto tr esty-just like bush he is against the kyoto protocol (even though he lied and said he supported it) and the media hardly mentioned that, even though they constantly trashed bush for not supporting it..
there's this reverse racism that because he's black, he must be for peace and justice .. just like colin powell- never did anything but go along with the party line and yet he was so much more trusted than all those other republican idiots

HAHAHAHA!! Nah, I couldn't help myself, T. I just had to point out that I wasn't the one to play the 'race card' this time because it always comes up in Obama threads!! LOL!!
Now, everyone here knows I'm the most vocal Obama supporter on this board. But, I don't think he deserves the award either. But again, with all the vitriol and outright hostility towards the man. He didn't apply for the Nobel, as a matter of fact, he was just as surprised as everyone else. So why be angry at him? Be angry at the Nobel committee.
I hear people are calling this three men (who just happen to democrats) pieces of shit. WhY? Jimmy Carter won his for beginning the Middle East peace process. Did it work? No. But he was instrumental in getting the two sides to talk, he couldn't force them to agree, but at least he got them to the table.
Al Gore won his for his global warming initiative. While most of you think global warming is a farce, it wasn't like the man pulled the theory out his ass. He had scores of experts backing his claims.
Just because you don't agree with someone's initiatives don't make them pieces of shit. But again, don't blame those guys for winning it, blame the people who chose them. I think many of y'alls anger is misdirected, or is it that no matter what Obama achieves you must villify it? HHhhhmmmm interesting....

He pooled scientist that agreed with his position. Not all of the scientific community is on board that human activity is in fact causing an increase in global temperature. I think out of the Democrats, Bill Clinton should have won the prize over the other three. Who knows maybe Obama would have deserved it in the future. He was nominated two weeks after he took office. I view it as furthering political momentum. Which is ok if that is the intent of the Nobel committee, They are not always devoid of politics when it comes to awarding scientific Nobels either. After all they are a private organization and can award to whom ever they want.

How To Win The Prize In 12 Days
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2009/...bel-prize-win/

I think they should give Noah the Nobel.
It's belated, but still would be a better choice than Obama.
We shall see.

PS, Those wood peckers can be a bitch!!!

BgMc, no I'm not bashing Obama per say. Just that it would seem that he received this prize because of the groundswell of support for the first black president.
The political momentum was unsurpassed in itself.
That's all. Nothing personal.
Maybe they should have given Busch the prize for having the IQ of a potted house plant.

From what ive gathered, he's recieved the prize for more or less, "good intentions", mostly with his quest for global nuclear disarmament.
A lot of people could argue that Nukes have prevented more large scale wars today, that they are the ultimate deterent.
For the record guys, I know a lot of you love to hate on Obama but he game the money he recieved for the prize to charity.

They named a peace prize after a man who modernized explosives. How stupid is that? Nuclear disarmament is a joke, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.
He may give the money to charity, I'm guessing his campaign, hopefully it makes news what charity it goes to. ACORN? Some other worthy cause where he has friends. I have no faith in our leadership.
I just think that the peace prize is pretty meaningless when it has been awarded to a terrorist in the past, and when such political luminaries such as adolf hitler, joseph stalin and benito mussolini have been nominatedLast edited by Kratos; 10-10-2009 at 10:40 AM.

LMAO @ a Nobel Peace Prize.
****ing joke.***No source checks!!!***

Ya, I don't love to hate him. Or even hate him.
I just don't like his political agenda.
I don't know him personally, so, it's hard to say I hate him.
But , so far, he isn't winning any points with me.
I guess for those people that have won the Nobel, you can just through it in the trash.
It means nothing now.
I wouldn't be surprised if I end up buying one off of ebay.
