If you ever start hyperventilating again or get that aura, grab a plastic or paper bag and and breathe into/out of it. The idea is to increase the CO2 in the blood by breathing it back in. This relaxes you in return.

Yeah I was told to do this by a dr when I had panic attacks/hyperventilated. If you think about it, hyper means to increase, and ventilate refers to air flow. She said basically that when we panic we tend to breathe quicker and more shallow, taking too much oxygen. The opposite would be slow deep breathes where you exhale slowly. It kind of does the same thing as breathing into a bag, but doesn’t work as well. For me the bag works great.
