burning fat....you can lose 1.5-2lbs/week without much muscle if dieting correctly.

Not too common to gain that much in muscle/week

very true. but the gaining muscle is way more enjoyable than burning fat, imo. so physically gaining mass is harder but mentally cutting fat is more difficult.

well, muscle weighs more than fat and it is possible (if dieting correctly) to replace muscle with fat. Most every time I cut, my strength slightly increases.

i dont know alot of guys cant get big. anyone can cut down it depends how low you are talkin about cutting.

Pro's dont spend all year cutting thats not usually what they all worry about. its getting big and developing the muscle which is tough.

being bigger always size kinda came but ill admit in the long run your going to spend alot more time and effort to gain muscle via losing fat. Fat loss isnt so difficult when you have alot of lean mass and know how to diet.

I like these two answers, because they both hit at the heart of the question, which isn't "Which is easiest for you?” as was answered by most responders, but rather "Which is easiest?"

I think the answer to this question is far more subjective than objective, and lies within the realms of both personal knowledge & personal disposition. Regarding the former, if you don’t understand the principles behind either objective, you’ll necessarily have very limited success. With the latter, some people are naturally less disciplined when it comes to dieting and cardio which makes cutting more difficult for them, while others are highly regimented in this regard. Similarly some are less disciplined in training (frequency & intensity), as well as in aspects of recovery and following gaining diet protocol two problems that make muscle building arduous. I feel a lot of it comes down to identifying and strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analyses to the business-oriented), then accentuating the positives and learning how to best overcome the negatives.

It all depends on your genetic body type.

If you are naturally ectomorphic it will easier to burn fat and harder to gain muscle,

a ****morph -- has a more difficult time burning fat thatn does an ectomorph but finds it easiest to gain muscle of all types.

And the endomorph will usually find it much harder to lose/burn fat than gain msucle, but at the same time will usually put on muscle a little easier than an ectomorph.

I personally started bodybuilding at around 120-130 pounds and have since worked my way up to 200 pounds.

My bodyfat is aroun 10% and though i find it gets easier to build muscle the more exoeriance and muscle mass i get...my body is still at its CORE ectomorphic so I can literally lose pounds and pounds and pounds of bodyfat (and muscle) every week doing cardio so i keep my cardio to as minimal as possible and try to use my diet and high metabolism to put on only quality muscle mass.

I look very ****morphic and muscular, but if you look at my smaller skelatal structure you can always tell that i am an ectomorph. I work HARD as SHHYT to put on size. Good luck in whatever you are going for.
