Trying to break through my plateau

I've hit a plateau, i have been doing heavy/heavier weight with about 8-12 reps and was wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to switch to lower weight with say 15 reps each set?

IMO, I would up the weights and shoot for 6-8 reps. If you can do 6, then stay at current weight, if you can't, then lower it. If you can do 9, then up the weight. 12 reps is a little high if your goal is strength.
