Just me, but I couldn't take that shit! I'd have to have a talk with that boy off campus. A serious talk! He def needs an attitude adjustment. I couldn't work in a situation like that.

That is harrassment period. Could be labeled as SEXUAL harassment also, seriously, "juicy" or "juicebox" can mean a lot of things.Report it to your direct supervisor or whoever you have to, to follow the chain of command. If your supervisor is a part of it, report it to an HR director possibly. If it conitnues or you are fired over it, you can file a lawsuit if you were not tested for steroids (If they are against their policy) or since in that instance it would seem you are being discriminated against.
I too work in a "corporate" environment and I have had a little training on issues similar to this.

I didn't mean to insult Hoss, but he says he "gets this all the time" and honestly I don't see how that is possible at all.
Hoss is known for his stories and tall tales, so I see this as yet another one of those. I try to help Hoss and give him advice and such (members pics forum) so I don't go around dissing him, but I honestly don't see people looking at him and thinking steroids at all.
I call bullshit.

At my old job I used to get some comments like that....and it was worse cause I interned in the pharmacy and was always in the sterile IV room dealing with everything from Fentanyl to Testosterone . No one was ever that bold though to ask me a question straight up like that. Whenever someone would have a comment I would just say 'I was grade A USDA inspected African beef' in a semi-joking matter, but kinda give them the mean mug. They would kinda laugh and be kinda intimidated by such a weird comment. I think going to HR is always a last resort....it almost requires a ton of paperwork and people talk to damn much. You can nip this in the bud yourself...there is a way to deal with all types of personalities, find it, and handle him.
Honestly Carlos....I know your a prim and proper dude...but this is the one time you can use what I like to call the 'black factor' lol!! Intimidate this joker. I have always been able to give folk a look that say 'come getchu someeeeeeeeee". Try it...don't give them the death ice stare, but more of tjust the frosty 'i'll slap you' look.
One time me and 2 of my frat borthers, and 2 girls in the sister sorority were at this white frat pajama party at UGA, and one of them white dudes was really aggresive with one of female companions even though she aint wanna dance. She pushed him away and he pushed the shit out of her and she fell. My bruh went over there and got in his face and like 40 of these white frat dudes came outta nowhere like ****ing ants. Me and my other brah ran over there and started 'death staring' everyone...raising hell and bluffing LIKE HELL!!! All three of us are big dudes...But I was secretely praying not to get get stomped to sleeeeeeeeep. I might not be here today if it wasn't for the black man death stare...no jokeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Personally I would definitely not do anything official like put in a complaint about the guy for the same reasons as some of the other guys have stated, i.e. A) It highlights your (alleged) steroid use to your bosses and B) You are the new guy, it will alienate you from your colleagues.
I would have a quiet word with the guy on his own, friendly but with an underlying threat of violence, JMO.

You may alienate yourself if you take them seriously. Not to say they are not serious accusations but really, juicebox and juicy, shit they could be HITTING on you! Maybe just give em a look like "Yer a weirdo" and laugh at em and shake yer head then walk away.

I first would not get upset over it, in front of them at least act is if you do not know what they mean... Let it blow over but if it does not go to HR and tell them.. I would act as if you do not know what a Juice head means and you think they are making fun of your sexual preference. That is sexual harassment if they did or said anything to a women.. hell did you not just leave a job that you were getting the same thing?? Bro I know it sucks but I wish someone would harass me

Actually Carlos... if you want him to leave you the fack alone and he pisses you off enough.
Go to HR and instead of saying that he called you a juicehead...
Say you heard him talking to coworkers and he was talking about you and dropping N-bombs like crazy, then made some reference about you being a "slave" etc, etc.
I am not racist in any way so please don't take it as such. Just making a point of that kind of comment will have an IMMEDIATE impact on that guy shutting his mouth. And it won't cause you to have to get tested...
Course... that only works if he is white

Tough call. But I would agree about not filing a complaint so soon. I'd get to know more people, make friends, and by then the problem may blow over and they'll find some new guy to unload their insecurities on. If it doesn't blow over once you've settled in then I'd file a complaint.

I personally don't think you should ignore this guy. He now has his friends doing this to you at work too. It's going to get worse. Even though you are new, your employer is surely trying to make sure you have a safe workplace, free from harassment. You need to get to HR immediately and tell them about this. They will call the guy into the office and it will be documented in his file. Don't worry about them giving you a drug test because they most likely will have to test more than just you, and its not worth it for this guy. He will be reprimanded, and if it continues, he will probably be fired.
Him assuming you are on roids because you are muscular and into fitness is typical, but it is harassment. The minute you go into the HR office and mention the word "Harassment", they will be scrambling to get this resolved.
What ever you do, don't threaten him. You don't want to give him any reason to be able to pull the same "Harassment" crap on you.
If this doesn't work, then drag him into the parking lot and use your juice bag body to beat the fu*k outa his ignorant jealous ass.

nah f that..
if these are people you dont know and they're making comments like that.. regardless of whether or not they're trying to get to know you, "id be like yo asshole, practice some common f ucking social courtesy.. you dont know me". Seriously, dudes tryn to be funny at the expense of your reputation. But than there another angle to it too..
First, if i saw this new jacked black guy who i was working with, (im tryn to figure out how most people might react to you) id a) be intimidated and the thought of saying something like "yo juicehead" would be far from my mind.. or b) id realize you were just another human being, see you take pride in your physique, would probaly picture you as a dominant alpha male type with a sense of humor, and might make a remark like that to say hey "you seem cool, so lets talk or w/e", i really dont think there was any malicious intent involved. But you need to calibrate, you can usually tell by the tone of someones voice what thier intentions are. And if thier intentions are to make you look like some brainless meathead, than you do all in your power, go to HR, file grievances, etc. But if not, just be cool and understand not everyone is socially enabled.

Hmmm . . . you might want to get some qualified legal advice on this one.
I find that people generally resent it when someone denies the obvious; it makes them think that the guy doing the denying thinks that they're stupid. You'll see this happen when a guy combs what little hair he has left up over his balding top, and when someone who obviously gay tries to make co-workers think he's a "real ladies man." The usual reaction is, "What do think we are, stupid?"
You might be able to deal with this with humor, but it'll take some doing. To a question like, "How much are steroids these days?" you could reply something like,
I dunno, my boyfriend gets 'em for free
I dunno, but creatine is getting outrageous
I dunno, but how much are you paying these days?
I dunno, but . . . they're free from the clinic
I dunno, but milk/protein/etc does a body good (it helps if you're seen walking around all the time with a carton of milk/protein/etc)
For sure, if you're direct with 'em and tell to mind their own business, they'll take that as an admission of guilt, and you'll end up on their bad side, then they'll look for ways to make life miserable for you. It's nothing personal, it's just human nature.
So, if the humor thing doesn't work, and if management won't put your co-workers in their place, it'll be best if you have good advice from a lawyer should things take a turn for the worse.
Good luck . . . and congrats for building yourself something that other folks are jealous of.

id wait a bit and see what happens meaning whether or not he continues to make comments. sounds obvious, to me, that he is just jealous of you
-
04-16-2006, 01:20 PM #73
Jealousy is a mother and I love when people get jealous and have to insult people to make them feel better. Carlos, bro I would ignore them it is harassment, but mild I mean if he started making accusations of sexual orientation or threats then I would hit up management, but it just shows how much of a man you are if you can get your work done ignore him and still be bigger than he will ever be. Or you could plant some drugs and guns in his desk and set his ass up either way
