My pic is me before starting my tight diet...and losing 15 pounds of (mostly) fat.
I state that I am not an expert when I give advice, and stick with the basics. Mostly I share my experiences and people can do what they want with them.

ah no, you should allow yourself to think like that, if you're confident to state something then go right ahead and dont feel intimidated. ive been at this 20yrs and am well academically qualified in it also, it sure as hell doesnt mean i know everything and am not one bit afraid to ask for opinions and adopt ideas from other ppl here, we all keep learning and evolving in fitness.
and good for you hitting your situation head on, its ppl like you that are needed on here to inspire others. good luckLast edited by dec11; 10-10-2011 at 01:13 PM.

I love this site cos there is such a wide range of knowledge here and I've learned heaps. I would never consider myself to know even an atom of what guys like Marcus, swifto, dec, gixxerboy AND others know. I try and participate in giving an opinion, albeit mainly on personal experience, and what ive learned from these guys, but thats about all i can do. I sort of agree with what devildog says in that it's great to get advice from someone who looks the part. You kinda want to emulate them and "doing what they do" gives you the drive to hopefully achieve your goals. Which is great, if they are who they say they are! But, I also agree that just because you don't "look the part" doesn't mean you don't know what you're
talking about and vice versa. I say, post your pics and be proud if you want to.

Some of the most knowledgable people I have come across on these boards are not massive, nor are they bodybuilders, or even big at all. It means shit.
William Lwellyn, BigCat have never even touched AAS. Scally is a doctor who speacialises in treating androgen induced hypogonadism. Nandi wasnt a bodybuilder, nor does DatBTrue weigh 300lbs at 10%. Dante has never stepped on stage, but has helped hundreds of bodybuilders.
Just because you dont walk the walk and weigh 300lbs, doesnt mean you dont know your shit.

agreed.
AND it is difficult when you get to my age to always be ripped over the decades. The reality is that it comes and goes (optimal conditioning, i mean)
some guys can do it decade after decade. I can do it for 5, maybe sometimes 6 years straight, but then something happens and then i'm off for a few years... almost back to ground zero, ya know?

I didn't mean that staff should be exempt if it were made a 'rule' (which would never happen btw). What I meant was that I believe members would be more inclined to take advice from staff regardless of lack of picture for avy, simply because of status. i.e. they were made staff for a reason. It certainly wasn't because of flaming or giving bad advice.
Stop right there. We know EVERYTHING is difficult at your age. Must not even be able to piss properly, poor fella!

It's more likely than not that you will never see me post my picture primarily to protect my anonymity. Im pretty identifiable based on my tats (which apperantly idicate that im stupid and poor btw - just ask layeazy).
On the other hand I have met another forum member in person quite some time ago and regularly correspond with another that lives close by and Im sure we will eventually get together. We havent thus far through no fault of his -I have had alot going on.
I understand the logic of wanting to see the person advising- however I have learned so much from so many that dont "look the part" it's pretty irrelavent to me at this point. As Swifto said - feel free to weigh any advice or experience I give on any criteria you deem relevant - but dont expect to see a personal pic of me anytime soon.Last edited by jimmyinkedup; 10-11-2011 at 03:14 PM.

I must've missed when he tried mixing it up with you. He tried getting into it with me once too... telling me I could be a metro sexual based on how I post... I guess because I type 'lol' and put smiley faces at the end of sentences. Sorry for expressing some fvcking emotion. The guy's a tool. I pwnd him in that thread and will be happy to do so again.

i still dont agree with this line of thought, ppl go up and down in size/condition in this line of recreation, through injuries and life changing scenarios, doesnt change their experiences.
i could post up a pic of loads of plifting trophies/medals including international and a British finals Bronze, doesnt mean i can walk into the gym tonight and pull a 280kg deadlift, but i was at that level.

why does it have to be serious? little niggles can set one back just as much, try having rotator cuff probs and see how many lifts you cant perform. after a long number of years in competitive plifting i have many flare ups and cant train like i did 15yrs ago, does that disqualify me from advising?

lol, meant size. would be a bit much for me but if thats what you're into.
you're in good nick for your age. im currently downsizing, sick of the constant eating and wrecking myself. a nice lean 90kgs will do me.
out of interest, how often do you have use synthol to maintain them?
