If you are talking about unemployment I have no issues with that. We and our employer pay into that and it's part of our benefits for situations like getting laid off. All unemployment benefits that are not used eventually end up lining some politicians pocket somewhere. Big difference between unemployment benefits and welfare. Dont confuse the two.
I also say enjoy your time off the best you can under the circumstances. It's not often you get an extended amount of time off with partial pay. Ive been there, done that. I also worked since I was 15 or 16 full time during the summer and full time after high school. Eventually I got a job at a BIG company and worked for 5 years before getting laid off for almost a year going to school on my time off and some job search before getting hired back. Got laid off again a few years later. Same drill, more school but also did a fair bit of playing, camping, traveling and raising my daughter.
Enjoy it while it last because soon enough you will be back to the old grind wishing you had some time off.Last edited by lovbyts; 06-25-2012 at 06:20 AM.

I'm doing it. For the moment. But I'm retiring out of the Army. I should be a civilian by Christmas and I'm not to sure I ever want to work again.

Lets see, I wish all I had to do work wise was train. and then i wish i had like 6 wives, so rest of time would be sex, and then playing with all the children as a result.
One women for each day of the week almost and all loyal to me, that would be the life.
I'd probably have to come up with a way to really make tons of money though.

Current Job: Bouncer
Future Plans: State Police or Federal Law Enforcement
*If I don't get a career opportunity within 8 months, I'm gonna be teetering with going to Law School. I can't afford it and I'm already in a lot of debt with my undergrad degree, but I can't keep throwing drunken assholes out of bars and clubs the rest of my life.
* I just wanna be successful. I want to be better than my mother and my ex. My mother was a white trash, piece of shit, junkie/alcoholic who lived(s) off of the government. My ex was a manipulative, decieving little scumbag who broke my heart and bartends as a "career". Those two degenerates are my motivation to succeed and do well in life....Last edited by Gaspari1255; 06-26-2012 at 12:00 AM.

Nothing wrong with that. Life is about constant re education. I started out washing dishes, busing tables to managing a small restaurant to cutting wood and some dock work unloading trucks then into construction doing drywall for a few years and took a pay cut to work for a BIG Union company at the lowest possible level and impressed the right people to get into the factory at mid pay with a $3 hr pay increase doing tooling aluminum, steel, plaster and plastics, fiberglass & graphite work for several years. After getting laid off I took some schooling in computers until I got hired back. Then a few years later I got laid off again and continued the computer MCSE schooling and started working in the field at about 1/2 what I was making in the factory for a while but slowly working my way back up in pay and different/larger companies. Eventually I got hired back at my previous job (large airplane manufacture) but once again changing career paths from PCs & Servers to CCNA routers .
Lots of changes but most of them were a bump in pay and all required re learning/training.
