Just saying what the papers out here are going on about. Hell, they are in a funk out here and they are pissed off & edgy. The Lakers are playing like crap despite their star power and fans are pissed. The Clippers are now without their two top superstars and the fans are pissed. Both teams had championship expectations. Then the fans were riding high on the Chargers, oops, gone. Shit, LA fans are still upset about losing their Raiders. Oh, the Dodgers from last season; big disappointment and have to rebuild. The Angels have two insane stars, but what did the Angels do? The Kings, forget about it.
Focus is now on the Rams exclusively out here in this goofy town. Unfortunately for Stafford, he was brought in for one reason and the recent trades were for that reason as well. You think they weren’t expecting to play out here in their brand new billion dollar stadium for this year’s Super Bowl? Tuff to be in Stafford’s shoes right now. McVay may have to start worrying as well if the Rams suck in this post season. Hell maybe LA can land Rogers next season if he up and leaves GB? You better believe the fans out here would be thinking that. Yup, sports writers and fans are damn fickle, unfair or not.

Oh I didn’t think it was you espousing your opinion, the national writers are all saying the same shit. It’s ridiculous
No chance in hell, Rodgers plays in LA. Not happening

Oh my brothers and sisters, testify!!
This weekend shit. gets. real!
I'll talk more in the morning (because a) I have turkey tacos to enjoy tonight and b) I MIGHT have had an early brandy and may be feeling no pain)
BTW, Jesus, it took me like 10 edits to get that last sentence right. I have been typing for damn near 30 years. THAT is how good the brandy is!
Anyhow, more in the morning, including how POSSIBLY, maybe just MAYBE the Titans go to the big dance this year.

Ok, lets talk football.
AFC Playoff picture
I'm just going burn through my picks for the weekend, then talk big picture.
Pats @ Bills... They split the season games 1-1. Both of these teams may be the most schizophrenic of all the teams in the playoffs. Who is going to show up? IDK. I give a slight and I do mean slight edge to the Bills in this one, mostly because of experience at the QB role and home field. Don't count out the Patriots though, but they need to show up ready to play.
Steelers @ Chiefs. The Chiefs put a pretty good hurting on the Steelers during the regular season. I don't expect any difference here, even with Big Ben's swan song. Chiefs win handily.
Raiders @ Bengals. How in the hell did the Raiders go from "on the bubble" to the #5 seed? Math. Anyhow, I'm not sure about Cincy in this one. I haven't been blown away with them this season, though obviously they have beat some tough teams, including a win against KC, though that was in KC's early slump. The Raiders have been playing above their pay grade, in my opinion... this just means they have been firing on all cylinders lately. Does this continue? I don't think so. Look for Cincy to win this one but it may be a grinder.
Next Week
If my thinking is on, then next week will see either the Patriots or the Bengals going into Tennessee. If Henry is back, TN is a juggernaut that will see the Super Bowl. The rest of the team has been playing hard in his absence and Vrabel has got this team looking good. Tannehill REALLY needs Henry back. Yeah, I know: understatement of the year. This all assumes Henry is healthy and can play. If he is, I believe the Titans return to the Super Bowl after what, some 20+ years absence? Expect defenses to test Henry throughout the playoffs and into the big dance though, especially by designing looks that force him to cut on his repaired foot.Last edited by Cylon357; 01-15-2022 at 07:56 PM.

The Raiders... I thought they were overrated but they showed us something today. And credit to them, they stayed in games and gave us not one but two exciting games in back to back weeks. I know it doesn't seem like much, but they played a tough game against LAC last Sunday night and then 6 days later have to go to Cincy. That's a tough road.
Oh and maybe their "interim" coach gets an upgrade?

I am all smiles right now. Josh Allen deserves this moment, he’s a helluva football player and really a great kid.

The patriots were on their heels. I did not see the whole game, but what I did, I say that the Patriots played bad.
Tim Podraza is a NFL ref. He will be the line judge (#47) in the Steelers game. He works out at the same gym I do. Cool guy.

The Pats did play bad, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the Bills played good, really good! 7 TD drives. Ground game and passing attack was in full swing. Allen looked locked in and confident. The Bills have Bill’s #

Alright, so I'm a bit late today, but lets talks some more dang football! (before the season is over :O )
NFC
Eagles @ Buccaneers. Exactly what I would have said will happen is happening. The Bucs are taking it to Philly, though at least at the point that I am at in the game (early 3rd quarter), the Eagles D is hanging tough and giving them a chance. The offense of the Eagles is failing to capitalize, though.
49ers @ Cowboys. The Cowboys should win this game. I'm not sure they know it, but they ought to if they can execute. I'm not saying the 49ers are a bad team, they just aren't quite up to Dallas's game, assuming Dallas plays like they are capable of.
Cardinals @ Rams. Ahh, the game I just don't think I care about. Both teams are, IMO, overrated* and this game is likely just playing to see who gets eliminated next weekend. I'm not saying the teams don't have talent, they just don't seem to be firing like they should, and frankly, haven't been as good as they should be all year.
Next week
Who gets to go into Lambeau and face the rested Packers? Rhetorical question there, y'all. I'm not sure it matters - I think whoever it is will be in for a thumping. Can you got into Lambeau and win? Absolutely, but it is a challenge at any time. And this year will be especially tough, what with all of the jibber jabber surrounding Rodgers in the off season, and his need to prove himself... not going to be an easy time for anyone. That said, I think Tampa Bay and MAYBE Dallas could go in there and get the W, but there are a few games left to play before we get to find out if any of this will come to pass.
* = Since I have called both teams overrated (which has been a consistent message on my part through the season), one of these two will likely be Super Bowl champs

Jimmy G. did not do EIU proud. But have to admit, Tony Romo made up for it with his announcing.

I have to admit, I miss NFL RedZone and absolutely no commercials. One commercial did get me stoked though. Dude, a new “Jackass” movie!
LA sports writers will be head hunting for McVay & Stafford if they lay an egg tonight. They already planted those seeds and were fertilizing them today. McCarthy from Dallas would be a GREAT candidate, then bring in Jimmy G or Wentz and the Rams are GTG
-
Well, I blew the 49er's / Cowboys call, but I'm calling the rest of my playoff record 4 and 1, with a toss up in the LAR / AZC game tonight.
And I admit, I really blew the call on SF / Dal. The 49'ers showed me something yesterday. I don't know if it is enough to get past Green Bay next week, though if the Packers are cocky and the 9'ers play like they did yesterday, we could be looking at an upset. I don't expect it, buy hey, SF has surprised me once, who is to say lightning won't strike again?
Cincy going into Nashville... I need to check the latest on Henry. I was born and raised in TN, and lived there until a few years ago. I did a lot of business in Nashville, and, were I still there, might just wander into the practice facility to see how things are going. OK, they aren't likely to just let me in, but maybe a drone would be able to get some info. Or maybe just check the news wire. But, regardless of Henry's status, I expect Bengals @ Titans to be a good game.
Buffalo @ Kansas City. Isn't this a repeat of the AFC championship from last year? Both teams put a hurting on their opponents yesterday, though neither the Patriots nor the Steelers played particularly well yesterday. This could be the game of the weekend.
Ah hell, who am I kidding? There are no bad games left!
Do either the Rams or the Cardinals have the ability to go into the Sombrero and beat Brady and the Bucs? Sure, I think it is possible, I just don't think it is very likely. Brady has got and I mean GOT to be driven to get back to the big dance... I think if he does, this will be it for him. He needs to be thinking about leaving an untarnished legacy (don't stick around too long) and also think about his health, which is good right now. The way the Tampa Bay O-line was protecting him yesterday (very poorly), that isn't a given.

Ooof, this MNF playoff game is getting ugly for the Cardinals. They CAN dig themselves out of this hole, just can't make any more mistakes, period.

SMART game plan by McVay, clean and safe performance by Stafford (a few very sweet passes though); they survive another week. Oh BTW it kind of helped that Cam Akers makes a miraculous 6 month comeback from a torn Achilles that has myself and my fellow PT friends amazed. Doing single leg plyometrics at 2 months, a serious WTF from a physiological & healing perspective.
Brings back memories of Ray Lewis’s rapid recovery from a torn triceps to help lead the Ravens to the SuperBowl. Deer Antler, lol.
Anyways, Akers just doesn’t get his feet wet last night to determine how functional he is; he crushes a defender and puts him on a stretcher.
Talked to my training partner and PT classmate who is from and works in TN. Henry is “GTG”. This weekend is going to be epic.

Gonna need an extra sweatshirt just watching the game on tv tonight, gonna be cold @ Lambeau. Go Titans (though wouldn’t mind if the Bengals win), go 49ers (that would be something).

OMG could I BE any more stunned at the games today??? I have no words.
Well, I have words, they are just going to have to wait until Sunday morning

I can’t believe the Bucs are -3 point favorites…meanwhile KC is only -1.5
I want Buffalo to win this game but a streaking KC team at Arrowhead as I point favorites is too good to pass up. Thoughts?
Also like LA -3 but my golden rule is “don’t bet against the GOAT”.
Thinking I like the overs in both of these games as well

Well, hell. I went 0 for 2 yesterday. I REALLY expected big things out of TN, but Cincy came ready for them. And of all the possible times for Tannehill to start throwing pics, this was NOT it. Though I guess he does get the distinction now of being probably the only QB in modern NFL history to throw a pic on his first pass of the game and on his last pass. The Titans offense just couldn't get it done, but MAN that Titan's Defense was championship caliber. What was it, like 8 sacks on the day? I don't blame Tannehill for all his interceptions, but man they came at big times.
Green Bay got stunned by San Francisco. So did I, though I didn't discount the possibility of the 49er's going in and stealing one. Turns out, I don't think they stole anything: SF came to play. I think the Packers were looking past the 49er's and it cost them. I did not watch all of this game, but oh my stars and garters, that 49er's special teams unit! And the look on Rodger's face as he walked off the field said it all - he didn't cry, but man, he sure looked like he wanted to. Can't blame him on this one.

Man, why TN didn’t run Foreman at the end of the game is a little disappointing. He was exploding through the holes on the line. Also didn’t like Tannahill running on 3rd and one and then making the 4th down run by Henry just a little more obvious. Loved seeing Roger’s face walking off of the field. Hopefully I don’t have to see him on commercials as much or not at not at all. Jimmy G can be mistake prone, but played a nice game in that weather & well, I like his smile.
Man the Rams are under even more pressure now. If they beat TB, I don’t see them losing to San Fran. Maybe it’s in the stars and the Rams were meant to play in Sofi for the Super Bowl.

All 3 road teams hit field goal to win with no time left….wTF

WTF indeed, man! That is literally what I said at the end of Bucs / Rams. Of course, I did say it twice yesterday, too...
I'm 0 for 3 so far this weekend. I don't see any reason to break the streak lol! Plus I just can't root for KC. They would have to be playing somebody like "The San Quentin Ax Rapists" or the "New Berlin Neo-Nazis" for me to root for the Chiefs at this point in time.
