I'm very curious what guys here think of this, especially guys across the pond. That a potentially unsubstantiated allegation from 35 years ago can ruin a Supreme Court Candidates life.

I think it's a slippery slope and if politics devolves to "he said, she said" decades old allegations being used to block an appointment to any post then no one of any party will risk public embarrassment and go through a confirmation process. I'm disgusted by it so far as it seems purely political. Unlike the #metoo movement I always thought a person was innocent until proven guilty. On a side note, I saw this on social media and it's true, if you're older the # was considered the "pound sign." So I guess it reads "pound me too."

Dunno the story but one accuser/liar made me guilty until proven innocent.
Innocent until proven guilty is just something that people say who can afford $500k bail, dont use firearms, travel outside their state, or have a job requires any reputation. Even then they can revoke your bail any time they choose, such as by acting on another false accusation.

To nearly everyone in this country, freedom is just a word. I can break laws in any country. No more free here than anywhere. Question is have they caught you yet. Most guys on this board could face a ten year intent to distribute charge and the prosecution dont give a shit if you are innocent or not. You are just another day in court to them. In the meantime most likely your marriage and career will dissolve and you will lay awake at night thinking about what your kids are gonna do without you.

Its a wonderful process.

Oh. It’s all political for the mid terms. What you have to realize is not everyone who voted Trump is a Trump supporter. The non support vote was for the Supreme Court nomine(s) If the republicans don’t stop bending to every wish from Ford and get Kavanaugh through there’s a 90% chance we lose the house and senate. Then we will never get a Justice through or pass any kind of funding. And Impeachment proceeding will start you can bet your ass on that. This is a really really big deal. Republicans need to rally and vote.
