Interesting turn of events in this thread. While it seems we can all agree that off-color or racial humor is acceptable, some of the racial epitaphs thrown around by BritishColumbian have not been in the spirit of fun. There's a big difference between having a little fun at someone's expense and blatantly flaming someone using the words "fvcking Jap" (among others).

BritishColumbian, seriously, you need to check yourself. Disagreements occur, tempers flare, and it's not a requirement for everyone to get along. Yes, I've had some fun at your expense and poked fun at myself in the process. However, you've stepped way over the line with your flaming and tags, which are clearly against board rules. So, I suggest in the kindest way possible that you rethink your approach with regards to posting to/about me. You want to have a little go and express your feelings towards me? Then by all means, please do so. I only ask that you leave the name calling and racist remarks out. Doing so will not only endear yourself towards other members, but will also greatly extend your presence on this board.

If BC wants to have fun with it, I have no problem with that. I poke fun at myself quite frequently and as long as others keep it humorous, then we all can enjoy a good laugh at my expense. But I draw the line with the "fvcktard", "fvcking Jap", "Pearl Harbor makes me angry", "immigrant training", "Cock Sucking Asshole Retard", "douchebag", and other language that is not only extremely offensive, but clearly against board rules.

I think I might just volunteer myself for a self-imposed suspension or banning, because the racist comments BC made will always be here and I'm not sure I can forgive that level of hatred. He can try to talk his way out of it, but anyone who spews such vitriol and discontent towards a particular racial group during a moment of anger, then follows that up by mentioning an historic event as the reason for never wanting to visit the country of that particular racial group, referring to English acquisition as immigrant training, etc., etc., is a person in need of some counseling.

Anyhow, I've got a busy week of teaching classes, committee work, and a major presentation to make for a research grant.
