I had to do the same some months back. She was 13 n could no longer walk or stand properly, but was still happy as could be. We took her for a boat ride (her favorite), cooked her a massive T-bone and later had to head to the vet. Held her as she took her last breath. As much as it tore me up, there was a strange feeling of comfort as I knew she was finally at peace, her pain n suffering were over. I hope that you can find that same comfort, you are doing whats best for your best friend.

After we put mine down, my son and I place him in the ground (him and I pre dug his grave) the hardest thing I ever did.
But as others have said. I felt such peace come over me to know that I put my buddy my pal out of his suffering. You are a better man because of it. Keeping him in his current state only would make it worse.

Sorry to hear about your friend/dog Ghetto.
We had to put down my chow chow when I was a child.
Still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.
Remember all the years you had together.
Youll be okay bro.
