The setup on my car is like that now but like everything I dont buy brand names or spend $$$ It's been good for 8+ years and cost 1/8 the price. I had my local guys do it Cats back but I gutted the cats first.

for about 2 years I ran straight exhaust with only resonated tips. It surprisingly was not TO loud. It wasn't quite and sounded good but nothing like I though it would. They burned out in about 2 years so I went with my current setup I custom built.

YES!!! You won't lose by going that route.

Since you're going down that road ... Take some consideration on the Diablo tuner and a cold air intake kit. Both will set you back about $500 to $600 total. Add that to your exhaust package and your car should be easily pulling 475hp if not a little more. It's the quick way to get some serious performance out of your car, and to get a few heads turning when you're two blocks away!

Or you could go overboard and take the supercharger or turbo route ... (still won't keep up with the WRX crowd though-LOL)

Weak & overpriced, but it's your $. Edit - damn, the exhaust's are expensive for Vettes, still get a dyno tune.

Get a Dyno Tune, fvck a handheld.

I may not know every possible thing oabout AAs, but I know just about any LSx car like no other.

Agree that dyno tuning is awesome (had it done with my supercharger), but it just depends on how much $$ a guy is willing to put into it.

Bigdog, I see that you're into guns too ... Something tells me that we would have a ton of fun if we ever met up (OR a ton of trouble as well)

No need for dyno tuning until you have made some significant changes and you have another computer system hooked up to tweak the air/fuel otherwise there is very little you can do with the stock computer.

I put on larger dual twin turbos, larger injectors, modified my intake and exhaust and changed my piston and valvue sizes. No way my stock computer could compensate for 1/4 of that. I added a SAFC to my system and had it dyno tuned using a 4 wheel drive dyno but it's $$$$

I squeezed 400hp at the wheels on a little V6 but it drives 99% like stock meaning it's smooth and predictable.

The stock ECU in a LSx is not like most. It can be tuned for some crazy shit unlike most.

Typically in a stock application a quality dyno tune will pull out at least another 25Hp to the wheels.

The AFC does not do shit for a LSx. . .

But, I guess I would do more before getting a dyno tune. I still haven't got mine done after pulling the cats and the AIR system. I just don't see the need to make my car any faster. With the Vette I would probably stay stock unless I was going extreme.

Vetteman....yeah I own a bunch of guns and like to go shooting (I don't hunt). My Dad is a gun freak and taught me alot. He has 100's and reloads his own bullets etc etc etc. I think we would have fun too.....and like you I am probably on a plane somewhere.....I've racked up 30K miles this year already b/c I travel for sales.... if you (or anyone who has helped me on this thread) will be in the Charlotte area anytime soon....hit me up. We can go stalk some females at the local watering holes....Charlotte seems to full of nice young females...

As for the Vette-----going to just do the exhaust for now and have fun with it. When I want some extra beef, I'll add the other stuff. The tuner scares me a little. Not sure I know enough about what I am doing. But I guess I will have to learn!

Man if my wife could see me now......(plus my new batch of gear just came in the mail yesterday.......) HAHAHAHAAH

Man, that is so overpriced. . . . . It is what it is I guess.

Newer car + it being a Vette = mo $

Do you fit well in that Vette? I sat and drove a 2000 something and it felt way tiny.

Intake, exhaust and dyno tune sounds like a great first step. Plus, running on the dyno is fun as hell.

Really hard to say on the Vette, the Vette comes pretty loaded from the factory.

If you are into track at all, juicing it would be fun. A real small shot(100 or so) through a throttle plate. Real safe with a pretty damn good kick.

well I must say that I am pushing the the limits of space in the Vette! It is a bit tighter than my Infiniti....and it def not my 2002 Lincoln Town Car that I used to have way back!!! But because of the less supportive seats in my 2008.....I am more comfortable in it than in the 2012 I test drove. The newer models have seats the wrap around you more. Leg room is OK. Getting out is no problem....getting in is harder for some reason! LOL

5'10" Pushing 220, usually around 200 and I hate small cars. I'm used to mobbing the Impala everywhere and I still push the seat all the way back.

Performance cars all seems to be a tight fit, plus the seats basically sit on the floor and the floor is basically on the ground. My left knee was hurting for a while and it was nearly impossible to get in and out of my car.

Looks nice, now find a good shop to install it for you, not rape you and does good work. Look closely to make sure it's not hanging low so you dont sound like a Honda scrapping over speed bumps and the back to make sure all the tips are even so it doesnt look cheap.

Do it yourself, it's only an exhaust.

I did mine, but it came with crappy clamps and not these nice Corsa ones so i took it in for just the welds.

Not many shops get to touch my cars. . . I just hate getting my car back with fukd up shit that just wasn't there before.

I use to do EVERYTHING myself back in the day but there are just some jobs it's MUCH easier to let a shop do it and do it right. Welding on exhaust is MUCH better than just clamping things together and it's tough to get all the hangers in the right places. It may not be so bad if you have a nice lift. My next place will have one of those portable, movable lifts so I can roll it outside of the garage to put the car up in the air and steam clean the underside also. We need some places here like they have in the Philippines. They have auto salons where they do a full interior detail, engine detail and steam clean the underside for like $20 or less.

Bigdog most everything you want to do or try yourself there are youtube videos on that will show you step by step.
