Luckily, the Cards lost to the Phillies 2-4. Brewers remain a half game behind St. Louis.

Rockies - J. De La Rosa (3-4, 6.58) vs. Brewers - D. Bush (4-8, 4.74) @ 1:05pm CST.
-
07-11-2008, 08:10 AM #363
Dave Bush pitches eight innings and only gives up one run and three hit. He picks up the win and registers 13K's. Brewers win 11-1.

Reds - J. Fogg (1-2, 8.39) vs. Brewers - M. Parra (8-2, 3.65) @ 7:05pm CST.
-
07-11-2008, 09:13 AM #365
With the Cardinals and Cubs losing yesterday, the Brewers are moved into second place and are four games behind the Cubs.

got him lookin! good game and a nice win for the reds. i'd like to see cinci get 2 outa 3 heading into the break. i like the brewers throw back unies tonight, brought back some memories of the greats paul molitor and robin yount.

As we saw again last night, the Brewers are going nowhere unless they get someone to help in the bullpen. I turned the game off after Riske gave up the double and was pulled. It's a good thing I did because the Brewers got spanked after that. Lol at Gagne.

Suppan makes me cringe when I think of him going back into the rotation. He has that one inning where he implodes.
-
07-13-2008, 11:06 AM #370
The Brewers offense was so bad that it was over after the first inning.
-
07-13-2008, 11:06 AM #371
Counsell did a better job than Weeks would have. Two hits, one walk, and ZERO strikeouts. Too bad Hardy hasn't been able to register one hit this series.

Everyone said that was Kendall's weak point as a catcher was throwing runners out on steal attempts. It hasn't been this season.
-
07-13-2008, 11:08 AM #373
Even if the Brewers win today, they still lost the series to the Reds at home. Very dissapointing and they have not finished strong before the All-Star break.
-
07-13-2008, 11:08 AM #374
Neither Gagne or Mota can be trusted unless we are getting blow out of a game. Gagne 10 million and Mota 3.2 million. What a waste of money.

Sabathia's signing has done nothing to motivate the Brewers. They have played worse since he came here.
-
07-13-2008, 01:28 PM #376
Sorry ass Brewers lineup can't score so Sabathia hits a home run to give the Brewers their first run in the bottom of the third. 2-1 Reds.
-
07-13-2008, 01:29 PM #377
Sabathia pitched a scoreless fourth but the Brewers can him no run support. It looks like he will have to hit another home run to tie the game.
-

Brewers are getting locked down by Bailey. Oh yeah...Bailey's ERA was 8.76 and he hadn't won a game yet.
-
07-13-2008, 01:52 PM #379
This game is more proof that the Brewers can't score unless they hit home runs.

CC carried the Brewers on his back to victory.
-
07-14-2008, 12:55 PM #381
Sabathia is 2-0 since joining the Brewers.
-
07-14-2008, 12:55 PM #382
Sheets and Sabathia should be allowed to work high into their pitch counts. That way you don't have to depend on the bullpen as much and they most likely won't be Brewers next season anyway. Ride them hard while you have them.

It wasn't a very good home stand before the All-Star break. Hopefully, Hart and Hardy can get out of their slumps and start carrying this team again. Starting pitcher has been good but the bullpen is a disaster.
-
07-14-2008, 03:18 PM #384
Congrats to Ben Sheets who will be the starting pitcher for the National League in the All Star game.
-
07-16-2008, 05:24 PM #385
Sheets threw two scoreless innings in yesterday's All Star game.
-
07-16-2008, 05:25 PM #386
No Brewers baseball for two days...boring.
-
07-17-2008, 06:42 AM #387
Looks like they are going to put CC first in the rotation and Sheets second after the All Star break is finished.

Yost may split the fifth spot between Bush/McClung. I'd rather see Bush get since he has been pitching as well as anyone lately.

Even Brewers.com spotted the obvious:
"Biggest problem: The Brewers have been incredibly patient, but at some point Rickie Weeks needs to produce in the leadoff hole. His on-base percentage has hovered below .325, an unacceptable number for that spot. Yost points out that Weeks ranks among the league leaders in runs scored, but how many more runs could the Brewers produce with a leadoff hitter who's on base more often?"

CC got my vote after his last game.

St. Louis beat the Padres 4-3 last night. The media talks about the Brewers catching the Cubs? Hell...they need to worry about the Cards first.
-
07-18-2008, 06:13 AM #392
Brewers - C. Sabathia (8-8, 3.67) vs. Giants - M. Cain (5-7, 4.06) @ 9:15pm CST.
One of those shitty late West Coast games.
-
07-19-2008, 08:52 AM #393
Sabathia pitches a complete game and picks up his third win in three starts with the Brewers. 9-1 Brewers over the Giants.
-
07-19-2008, 09:10 AM #394
Cubs lost to the Astros 1-2 and the Brewers move up to four games behind Chicago.
-
07-19-2008, 09:27 AM #395
Cardinals came back and beat the Padres 11-7. They maintain their one game lead on the Brewers.
-
07-21-2008, 07:20 AM #396
Brewers pick on the win on Saturday over the Giants 8-5.
Except for the brief appearance in the All Star game, Sheets hasn't been at his best lately.
-
07-21-2008, 07:21 AM #397
Damn Cardinals came back to win that game on Saturday 6-5 against the Padres.
Since the Cardinals rarely lose, this series coming up with the Brewers and Cards will be big.
-
07-21-2008, 07:24 AM #398
Billy Hall was brutal...striking out three times.
I don't understand why the Brewers don't get televised road games...or sold-out home games. It sucks having to Cards vs. Padres on FOX.
-
07-21-2008, 07:25 AM #399
I hope Ray Durham presses Weeks for playing time. We need a better on base percentage from our leadoff man.
-

Braun should have a chance at hitting in the mid-forties for home runs.
