Anyone else think I got over medicated on my lower back today?
I feel nicely over medicated. Comfortably Numb.

    anti inflammatory / steroid shot.
    Prednisone 20 mg
    Mathocarbamol 750 mg x 2 every 8 hrs
    Ibuprofen 600 mg 2-3 every 6 hrs
    Tramadol 50 ml x2 every 8 hrs
And a referral to an ortho.

Not going to lie I feel pretty good right now. I’ll rest till Monday.

If you were hurting and spasming, I think you are right on the 10x ring, Cape. Hope you get to feeling better soon. A tweaked/spasming back is a real no-sbitter.

I know, it comes and goes very easily. About 4 weeks is my max that I can really push things now, then I have to force myself to deload. Otherwise I end up hobbled.
In fact, tomorrow is a deep tissue massage for me. It was scheduled for last week, but the cute massage lady's daughter was sick.
Take it easy and after things lighten up a bit, ease back into it. Hydrate well ( liquid of your choice, of course). Just don't over hydrate and get a headache.

It didn't pan out last night for lifting. Got down to the shop and had a nice gusher of a nosebleed when I was warming up my shoulders. Called it off and went to work. Felt like crap and dropped by to see the nurse on break this morning. Seems I'm running a stupid fever again. I hate this confounded weather. Nurse sent me on to the house.
Drinking some grapefruit juice and plan to grab a hot shower, then pop some aspirin and sleep for a while. Off all weekend and only supposed to be called in if it's absolutely necessary.
    Will lift later; maybe tomorrow.

    Morning fellas and Girly

I honestly want to feel a lot less pain doing absolutely nothing although I’ll never have that chance - geeez all I want is to lift and I can barely lift anything but my arm and that hurts like hell - I’m pissed miserable and just feeling like whatever these days it sucks but I’ll figure something out I hope

Been MIA for a few days and will catchup on your posts later.

    Killer workout. Leg day.

Cha cha plank and 15 min calisthenic type moves for warm up.

Squats. Ab and ad. Glute machine, horizontal leg curls, seated leg curls, horizontal calves.

    35 min incline treadmill

Slightly dizzy after jacuzzi - had to sit down. Had a breakfast smoothie so maybe my sugar is down.

    Feeling great!

Blah, still running a fever, but it's staying between 101-102°F, so it could be worse. On the plus side, since my shifts have been running anywhere from 8-12+ hours, I ordered a new lunch bag. My old one was getting pretty dilapidated and barely held my food, shaker cup, ice blocks, lifting notebooks, meds, etc. This came in earlier in the week and so far I f-in love this thing. I agonized over the price, but finally gave in and bought one.
There is room in this thing for several meals, water, etc. and a separate.pocket on the side that is the perfect size for a shaker cup. Pockets on the sides for meds/supplements, and a separate compartment to put my lifting logbook in.

    Sup folks!

Found a new gym and I am really happy with it. I now have access to different bars, bumper plates, thick bars, a sled to push, a glute ham raise, whole hammer strength line (and pretty much two machines for every movement), 70kg dumbbells et.c. you name it.

Just came from the gym doing deadlifts and I am perplexed regarding differences in bars and plates. Last week I did squats with bumper plates. No loss or gain of strength but the bar bent a lot and it made stabilizing it more tiring, I felt my erectors get all exhausted. Today though I used regular plates, metal plates with a small rubber coating as in the previous gym (they're just as thick too), though the floor is hard here and the bounce is pretty much non existant, AND... one more difference, I accidently used a weightlifting bar that rolled with no resistance. I became 2 reps or 10kg/22lbs weaker this session. Is this normal? Shocking difference, I really don't think my old gyms plates were underweight or that the flooring made the difference, I think its the bar... anyone experienced this?

A stiff bar makes for a harder lift for me. The load is felt instantly when you start your lift. A bar that gives a tad lets you feel the load progressively instead of all at once.

Are the glute/ham raise machines a reverse hyper machine like in this link:
    https://www.westside-barbell.com/col.../reverse-hyper

If so, they are awesome for development!

No unfortunately not that GHR, just a regular GHR like this Weighted Glute-Ham Raise

Yeah I have read that stiff bars should make for a harder lift. The thing is my old gym didn't have bumper plates, they were just as thin as the ones I used just a different brand. Though the bar did bounce a little bit, but the flooring there was different and did make for a little smoother lift. Damn I was cheated on all this time LOL. Can't say I liked the bar that rolled with no resistance for benching either. I like the powerlifting bars that don't roll so easily.

Hate to get to know I am actually 10kg weaker

BTW AG I liked the feeling of the stiff bar more, I don't know why but the hard floor with non bumper plates made my form feel better. Tiny difference though.

BTW is it normal to not be able to do rest pauses with dumbbells? Seems like I spend just enough energy when getting them up - not that I feel like I spent any - to make the second part of the rest pause fail at rep zero...

Rest pause w/dumbbells takes a bit of getting use to for presses. You may want to drop back 5 lbs. or so? A small drop in weight can make a big difference and you'll work back up in weight before you know it, which is nice if you're trying to beat your logbook.
If the rest pauses don't feel comfortable, maybe try combining flyes and presses into one set. Get a weight that you can get 8-10 good reps on flyes and then w/o setting the bells down go straight into presses and try to get at least 4 reps.

I don't think I would like the bumper plates, maybe I would get used to them? Seems like there's energy wasted on chasing the damn things when they bounce around?

When I tried squatting with bumper plates I definitely felt a lot of energy going wasted. The bar got stacked and wobbled up and down lol. I felt momentum and my erectors/lower back got spent.

Thanks for the tip AG I'll try going a bit higher in reps. Can't say I like flyes though lol I am a presses guy, compound movemets for pretty much everything.

Every year during this period everyone gets sick all the time. Luckily my immune system fights it off but I meet people all the time so by mid day I feel I got something, my sleep then gets affected, I wake up pretty much OK and fine by lunch, then it starts over. Lasts about a week until I'm resistant to this year's bacteria.

Yesterday hour of yoga with emphasis on the warrior (patriots) and eagle poses. Hip flexor and hammies are super tight. Enjoyed 3 hours at Trampoline park. It was really fun!!!

Change in plans today...will be gyming. Thinking I’ve been neglecting shoulders and triceps. Report back later!

Going to have a go at lifting here in a bit. Still feel somewhat rundown, probably just a mental thing.

Good work, it will just keep building on itself!

It’s been 10 months since I started working out religiously again. My first month back I could only manage to Get one to two workouts in a week with the health of my knee and such. Fast forward to today and I’m on like day 18 or 19 in a row. Only 10 short months and I completely overhauled not only my body but my mind and spirit. It feels amazing to be back into the fitness lifestyle again!

That's where I am lacking right now. My mind isn't in it.

Thx and congrats on your transformation!!!!

I’ve started a new approach with clean food (organic, GF, no soy), training and mediation, just haven’t realized results yet. Body is changing...but nothing dramatic yet. I’m expecting results in 3 months although it may take a year.

Nice MS! Remember to take the occasional day or two off and listen to your body. I'm feeling a bit beaten down lately myself. Good workouts but a bit more tired than I should be so I'll be taking a week off in a couple weeks. Heading to Mexico and I'm definitly not lifting any weights on vacation.
