It's about a pound and a half bag. I'd say it's worth a try. Easy to make too.

I have to hit chest tomorrow. I have ran in to a bit of a problem... I messed up my right shoulder a few years ago in bad motocross crash and it doesnt seem to hold up to heaving barbell benching. My issue is my gym only has dumbbells up to 85lbs. So I think im going to have to pre exhaust my chest in order to get an effective workout. This is very new to me so im wondering if someone could post up a good chest routine that involves pre exhausting the chest?

Or maybe someone could give me some bench tips to keep my shoulder from hurting? I have tried keeping my elbows in, doing rotator cuff exercises/ warm ups, and stopping a couple inches above the chest.. this has seemed to help a little but not enough to make me comfortable with it. Its sad because I really do love barbell benching... theres nothing better than loading up a few steel 45's, repping them out, and listing to them slappin together.

start with the hammer strength machine and exhaust your chest with that. It's been my go to for chest for years now

I dont know if its our hammer strength machine or what, but it seems like the starting point is way too far back and it really hurts my shoulder to reach back that far to begin the exercise.

    Bio is spot on.

    Or try this.

Start with say dB incline flies.

Do your 6-8 reps (whatever u may do) once u r hitting failure without putting the dB down. Go straight into the pressing movement. Finish off until failure here.

This will.fry ur chest and u don't have to use the heavy weight.

you don't have more then one? We have 2 incline 2 flat and 2 decline machines. Try to find a machine that doesn't bother the shoulder. We all have injurys and gave to find way to work around them. It's just part of the sport

I like this and may try it... Like I said im new to pre exhausting workouts but my idea of pre exhausting the chest was hitting flies (calbe, incline) Then after my chest has been fatigued, do my pressing movements with dumbbells.

We only have one and its an incline... I wish the gym had heavier dumbbells.. that would make my life easier but they dont... and most gyms (at least around here) dont have heavy dumbbells.

you should at least have some other chest machines you can try. Get out of your comfort zone and try some different things. Change is good

Unfortunately I dont... this gym seems to be more geared towards power lifting and cross fit. I wish I could just barbell bench as I really enjoy the feeling I get when im pushing big weight. However, at the end of the day im a bodybuilder, not a power lifter.

Im icing it, took a few soma's and a perk. I was real pissed off, but I gathered myself and said to myself if I had my spud with me I probably wouldn't have had the issue. It pretty bad, one of those you know you fuked up. So its would seem my tri is shot and now my lower back. I think its time for me to be a lazy fuk and not train anymore, I really sick of this shit.
Hang in there, BG. I did something weird to my right lower back moving an old forging die that I milled down and turned into basically a heavy ass anvil. (Think of a solid metal cube ~ 12" x 18" x 8" thick). Anyway, right side of my lower back seized up and then I woke from a Flexeril sleep with the sinus crap again.
Temps are ridiculous down here. The hot and chilled water for the heat/AC is off here at work and it is hotter than hell. LOL, it is the end of December, damn it.
Anyway hang in there, things will turn around. The Flexeril loosened my back up and the Coricidin seems to be helping with the crud.
We just have to keep our mindset right. I'm the same as you, I believe. I just look around at what all is fvcked up/going wrong and I think "Fvck me. Is this really how things are supposed to.work?".
I'm back at it tomorrow and hope you get right and are back where you belong ASAP.

Edit: I'm the only one in the plant other than the guard way up front, so I'm going to raise hell and cuss everything I work on or make tonight!

Are you able to do any stretches with the shoulder?. If so, try grabbing a broomstick, cupping the hand of your injured side over the end of the handle and with your other hand grab the handle down near the sweeping end. Slowly push the hand of the injured side upwards and to the rear. Don't try to see how much pain you can take, just go for a good decent stretch. Once you get the injured side done, lather, rinse, and repeat for the other side. I've known people that had squatting issues because they couldn't reach back to pull the bar into their body and this has helped them.
It may take some time.but its worth a shot. I had a ruptured bursa and want from an almost frozen shoulder to a much improved ROM in about 11 weeks.
Remember you're trying for an improved ROM, not to see how much pain you can withstand. Also, I think you'll find most everyone in here starts their shoulder and chest lifts by grabbing a light plate or d'bell and hitting Cuban rotations until the blood gets flowing.
    Hope that helps you.
