Morning all. Spent 6 hrs in the ER yesterday to find out the kidney infection is actual stones......that's why the pain is so intense. CT and there they were. FML. The dr. said my pain tolerance is crazy high, for the size of the stone, it brings men to their knees. I block so much shit out. I just convince myself there isn't pain till it's at a level 10, I need to not do that.
So needless to say I am on pain meds and peeing in a strainer till it passes to make sure it comes out and not gets lodged in there. 1mm bigger and it would have been immediate surgery.
I woke up this morning ready for the gym, turned over and OUCH.....no go. I am so bummed. I am missing the gym like crazy. I miss my lifts. 2 days now off in a row.
I hope everyone is doing great!

You know thats the funny thing. They don't know. I have to save it to see what kind it is, that will tell what caused them. I drink about 130-150oz of water a day so it's not hydration. So crazy.
They do not feel good at all. The hot sweats, and feeling like I may buckle over are the worse.
I look at it this way it could be much WORSE.

There is nothing that takes the pain away from a stone. Absolute worst feeling.
Supplements and excessive protein could be a factor too. (Also I was eating tums like they were candy)
I had to stop everything.
I never caught a stone so never knew what kind they were.
Wish u the best. Drink anything and everything u can. I doubt u will, but seriously start drinking beer (I'm sure cape will approve the more u pee the faster this will end.
My last one (the worst one) lasted a week. I would eat 3-4 percs and still be in so much pain:

Take it easy and attempt to relax. You've been nailing your lifts, so the down time will be good for you. You need the rest anyway when you're blocking pain, it puts one hell of a stress on your mind and CNS.
If you feel up to it, read up on Arthur Jones (the inventor of the Nautilus machine, not the DT from the NFL), and Mike Mentzer. You will be surprised at the amount of time they allowed for recovery due to the intensity level they were able to call up when they lifted.
Pretty sure some of Mentzer's seminars are on YouTube. His philosophy was really deep, but applied so well to lifting and life in general.
Hope you get back to feeling better, PRONTO!Last edited by almostgone; 05-04-2017 at 12:11 PM.

My last bout with kidney stones was years ago, but they are f-in brutal and unrelenting. I hurt so bad before I passed it, I punched through the bathroom wall and out through the other side into the bedroom. Scared the beejeezus out of the wife and her sister.
The pain would be almost blinding at times, even the less painful episodes were a real no-sh!tter.
Like mentioned above hydrate like there's no tomorrow. Once you pass the stones and they analyze them, they should be able to tell you what the primary component is. If I remember correctly, I had to lower my protein intake which was ridiculously high at the time and took allopurinol for several months.Last edited by almostgone; 05-04-2017 at 12:01 PM.

He could call up ridiculous intensity. Even talked about going for one long mind blowing rep. Incredibly talented thinker and I think you are correct about the alcohol consumption. He and his brother, Ray, had superbly dense muscle tissue. I'm sure there were some good genetics involved, but also a sh!t pot load of sweat, tears, and cussing.

It's for sure sharp and shooting at points, then constant dull pain. I feel nauseous at points. I am drinking lots of water. THIS IS CRAZY. It feels like the beginning of labor. Like the worst contraction I have ever experienced. I totally get what you say about blinding, my vision goes straight up BLURRY. It's so weird, I think I may pass out from the pain.
It's so nuts.
Thanks for all the advice and help......It's crazy.
I am straining my pee, so I can have it to take to the dr. so they can tell me what kind it is. I eat about 135-175g of protein a day, but the dr. said that doesn't worry him, cause I have always ate like this, so my body obviously digest proteins thoroughly.

First night back at work was a real bastard. 11 hour shift and was drinking shakes on the run and lots of steamed Chinese food here and there.
The headaches ate almost gone from the header into the squat rack, but I'm going to give it a day or two more just to make sure no more sub q bleeders crop up.
Believe it will be chest when I start back. Plan to work off the hooks and spotter arms on the front of my Smythe machine and work on my form for a bit. I think that will give me a bit more freedom and possibly get a better contraction. The Smythe machine is nice to lock out when you hit failure, but it prevents me from pushing the weight back up at a slight angle? There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

When you feel like a sea urchin is making it's way towards exiting, you'll know.your close to passing it. For me, the pain shifted from lower back to more of a low abdomen issue.
You'll do ok. Women are waaay yonder tougher than men. Thats why y'all are the ones that are tasked with childbirth. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Ok, long past bedtime for me. Should be back lifting fairly soon. Everyone have a great day. Looks like rain moving in here, so may as well get horizontal.

I think the only one I passed, at the end I was pissing literally straight blood. No urine just blood. Scared the shit out of me.
I worked through most of mine also...only called out once or twice lol.
Nausea is normal but normally in the beginning for me at least. I would get that dull pain, then the shooting, then non stop throwing up for a good 20 mins.
Wouldn't wish a stone on anyone. Not even worst enemy lol.
Protein, calcium, and dehydration biggest reasons why I always got them.
