Question for you guys.....
When you are doing barbell rows with either an underhand or regular grip..... how do you place your feet and why?
Just curious to hear responses before I post my reason.....

My feet position is my natural stance, not to wide or to narrow just my stance what will keep me stable and for me this is inside shoulder with my natural foot position what doesnt put any strain on anything. Feet slightly pointing outwards. I'm training my back and nothing else so its just a natural stance mate. I also drive the bar up my thighs keeping the bar as close to my body as possible otherwise your going to put to much strain on the lower back because of the balance being out, drive up the core column

Ian corrected my form and said to being my feet closer together. The allows the elbows to stay tighter to the body and thus removing the rear delts from the movement. This should put more focus on the lower lats. Knees and feet being slightly pointed outward allows the bar to travel up without hitting the knees.
Was just curious what other did.... I probably should have waited a day or two before posting my response hahaLast edited by marcus300; 03-18-2017 at 12:33 AM. Reason: spelling

Nice punishment on the legs, buddy. I think I am slowly (very slowly) getting a tad more depth on my squats. It sure does take longer than I had planned, but I am gradually getting deeper while still feeling comfortable and in control. I'm just using 7mm knee sleeves for support, still holding off on wraps since I'm prone to throwing clots.
LOL, for some reason I have a feeling Kel popped out of the womb and was squatting like Tom Platz? There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Thats what Im going to do, just work on it and not worry so much. Mondays Im going to front so Ill throw some light back, slow and deep to get the feel. I was just happy to get a good working set at a decent weight. It was a fast set, quick reps, my friend laughed and said "It looked like you just wanted to get it over with"
Damn thats crazy with the clots, you get some security from the sleeves though? Im not wrapping tight at all, it gives me knee pain if I do, but if I dont I worry about my knee and I lose my concentration.

The 7mm sleeves do give a little support, but I mainly like.them.for the heat and they do give me a little confidence as well? Plus my working.weights are still low compared to yours, I imagine.
I work my way up in sets of 20 reps, starting with a dry bar, adding a plate after a set or two of 20 reps until I get to 315. A couple of sets of 315 for 15 reps is my upper end right now and then I start working my way back down in weight opposite the way I worked up in weight. I'd like to be comfortable hitting 405 for 20 reps by the end of the year? Thats kind of my goal anyway. Long term, I would be tickled shitless if I could knock out 495 for a clean 20 reps by the time I'm 55? Kind of lame I guess, but what the hell, right? I'll be 53 this year so lots of time to gradually work up in weight.
I feel safer going for high reps sets vs. triples or sets of 5. Tearing the lower back years ago and the quad tear last year has given me a respect for what higher rep sets can do to develop my legs w/o damaging something else.
The clotting thing is just a genetic flaw, so I try to respect it. I do have a very light set of wraps on stand by if I change my mind.
I was talking with Alan from APT about something one day and mentioned it to him and he fixed me up with a set of light wraps and some suggestions on wrapping that should help me avoid wrapping too tightly. I'm thinking he sent them after the quad tear?
Edit: I know one guy that swears he fixes his knee pain during squats by using the big rubber band like they use to hold hold bunches of broccoli together. He says he gets a pain right below the kneecap on squats and ever since he started using the band he is golden. It's weird because thats all the support he uses.Last edited by almostgone; 03-18-2017 at 11:16 AM.

One more benefit from the squats that is starting to show is a wee bit more calf size and separation. Not a tremendous change and not even in the same zip code as Kel's calf development, but enough of a change that my sister-in-law and my niece both commented on it before giving me grief about blinding them with my paleness.
