It's always neat to open someone's eyes to what hard training really is. It's not the social event they're used to....

Strap the seat belt on and grab the close grip. It will tear your lats up. If not for the seat belt I'd be doing pull-ups. Lol.

    Question for you guys.....

When you are doing barbell rows with either an underhand or regular grip..... how do you place your feet and why?

Just curious to hear responses before I post my reason.....

I put the bar about in the middle of my shoe laces. Outside of the foot on the inside of my hand.

more specifically..... where are your feet placed. Not the bar in relation to the feet. Also.... why are your feet placed the way they are? Whether it be staggered, close together, wide stace, shoulder width.... etc

At least shoulder width. Toes out slightly. Really it depends on the weight. Heavier wider toes out. It's a balance thing for me. On the first pull I may widen my stance.

My feet position is my natural stance, not to wide or to narrow just my stance what will keep me stable and for me this is inside shoulder with my natural foot position what doesnt put any strain on anything. Feet slightly pointing outwards. I'm training my back and nothing else so its just a natural stance mate. I also drive the bar up my thighs keeping the bar as close to my body as possible otherwise your going to put to much strain on the lower back because of the balance being out, drive up the core column

He gets to the land of monsters and his whole routine changed. I guess when they produce freak after freak they tend to earn more trust than a guy half of his size lol.

In other news..... my brother in law wanted to try a HIT workout. I broke him in with something that wasn't going to kill him. It killed him haha. He cant imagine going any harder than I had him going but we hadn't touched negatives yet. Had him do the dumbell press routine from the video I posted for you guys when I trained with Ian. After that some machine flys with proper form and then a cable press/fly motion with drops. He was sore for three days.

I need a partner in the gym.... thats another reason why I want mine to be set up. My training partner lives in the same house lol. He wont do HIT himself but he will help me with a spot.

Love that when guys want to try and HIT and train with you lol lol they always seem to have an excuse after the first workout lol

Pretty much spot on. So here's what prompted me to ask....

When I was training at Ian's gym I had my feet at shoulder width. I use underhand grip because I feel it hits my back better.

Ian corrected my form and said to being my feet closer together. The allows the elbows to stay tighter to the body and thus removing the rear delts from the movement. This should put more focus on the lower lats. Knees and feet being slightly pointed outward allows the bar to travel up without hitting the knees.

Was just curious what other did.... I probably should have waited a day or two before posting my response haha

Haha right - not many can hang. True HIT is tough..... takes mental discipline. He still takes about that session too. He loved it but was crazy sore. His workouts now just don't feel the same. It was the first time he was taken to true failure. On his 2nd set he was failing with 55lb dumbells haha. He couldn't believe it

Feet a touch closer than shoulder width and pull against thighs into waist while arching low back and popping chest at point of contraction

The feet closer puts more strain on the activated lats

    Friday legs

First good squatting session! So I put more thought into this work out all day. I took an Aleeve first and wrapped my knee's loosely, but just the bit of support took my mind off my left knee.

    Stretching
    Cardio
    Calves
    Core
    V'squat
    Angle Hack
Back squat -First good working set since squatting again. Felt good, I need 2 more inch's on my depth ( dont we all esp. Kel)
    Front extensions
    Calves

Very happy with the work out and I feel good and sore today

Back squat -First good working set since squatting again. Felt good, I need 2 more inch's on my depth (dont we all esp. Kel)

Very happy with the work out and I feel good and sore today
Nice punishment on the legs, buddy. I think I am slowly (very slowly) getting a tad more depth on my squats. It sure does take longer than I had planned, but I am gradually getting deeper while still feeling comfortable and in control. I'm just using 7mm knee sleeves for support, still holding off on wraps since I'm prone to throwing clots.
LOL, for some reason I have a feeling Kel popped out of the womb and was squatting like Tom Platz?

Thats what Im going to do, just work on it and not worry so much. Mondays Im going to front so Ill throw some light back, slow and deep to get the feel. I was just happy to get a good working set at a decent weight. It was a fast set, quick reps, my friend laughed and said "It looked like you just wanted to get it over with"
Damn thats crazy with the clots, you get some security from the sleeves though? Im not wrapping tight at all, it gives me knee pain if I do, but if I dont I worry about my knee and I lose my concentration.

    I've got 99 problems......but my squat/dead ain't one !!

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

The 7mm sleeves do give a little support, but I mainly like.them.for the heat and they do give me a little confidence as well? Plus my working.weights are still low compared to yours, I imagine.
I work my way up in sets of 20 reps, starting with a dry bar, adding a plate after a set or two of 20 reps until I get to 315. A couple of sets of 315 for 15 reps is my upper end right now and then I start working my way back down in weight opposite the way I worked up in weight. I'd like to be comfortable hitting 405 for 20 reps by the end of the year? Thats kind of my goal anyway. Long term, I would be tickled shitless if I could knock out 495 for a clean 20 reps by the time I'm 55? Kind of lame I guess, but what the hell, right? I'll be 53 this year so lots of time to gradually work up in weight.
I feel safer going for high reps sets vs. triples or sets of 5. Tearing the lower back years ago and the quad tear last year has given me a respect for what higher rep sets can do to develop my legs w/o damaging something else.
The clotting thing is just a genetic flaw, so I try to respect it. I do have a very light set of wraps on stand by if I change my mind.
I was talking with Alan from APT about something one day and mentioned it to him and he fixed me up with a set of light wraps and some suggestions on wrapping that should help me avoid wrapping too tightly. I'm thinking he sent them after the quad tear?

Edit: I know one guy that swears he fixes his knee pain during squats by using the big rubber band like they use to hold hold bunches of broccoli together. He says he gets a pain right below the kneecap on squats and ever since he started using the band he is golden. It's weird because thats all the support he uses.

One more benefit from the squats that is starting to show is a wee bit more calf size and separation. Not a tremendous change and not even in the same zip code as Kel's calf development, but enough of a change that my sister-in-law and my niece both commented on it before giving me grief about blinding them with my paleness.
Got MT2 on hand and it is almost time to start using it.
