I know it's a different procedure, but I've been considering asking my Dr. about platelet rich plasma injections for my shoulder and see if she has an ortho/sports Dr. she prefers. My old ortho was good, but moved to a larger city.

Edit: Your sessions are fine, Trail. It just takes time to build on what you can do, especially when you're dealing with injuries. When I started back, I think I was only doing leg presses, barely repping on hacks, maybe reverse hacks, and some calf work. Now I have a pretty good leg day and a dedicated squat day, which tickles the shit out of me.
Your find the niche that suits you before you know it.
I didn't get much of anything from the PRP other than a brutally aching joint afterwards for a few days, but no improvement whatsoever. I have a PM&R buddy who admits he sees very little improvement with it except in a few specific cases. Personally if affordable I might do PRP x 1 only, and if it didn't work go right to stem cell, or do stem cell right off the bat. As mentioned previously, needs to be the bone marrow type, not amniotic. That's part of the fun getting the hip tapped for bone marrow and then having it shot into the knee. Kind of like the orthopedic equivalent of a bad marriage that ends in divorce, within the span of 2 hours.

Thanks for the notes on the routines - I forget to qualify sometimes and focus too much on what it is I want to do and cannot, rather than focusing on what I can do and doing it. The latter brings results, the former frustration.

Chest - good day/bad day. Head wasn't in it. Really tired but had to push through for mental reasons. No gains, but intensity getting there. Can't believe how wasted I am after a short (time wise) chest session. I think that's a sign of getting some work in.

    Body Master inclined bench, plate
    1 w/u x 12
    1 feeler x 12
    1 w set w/ r/p to hit 9, drops to hit 13

    Body Master wide grip, plate
    1 feeler x 12
    1 w set w r/p x 2 to hit 12

Seated cable bench, s/s with decline cable flies
    1 feeler x 12
    1 w set w/ r/p x 2 to hit 12 on bench, 10 on flies

    Standing cable upper pec flies
    1 feeler set
    1 w set w/ r/p to hit 12.

    2 h pwo and I am shot.

Thanks for the info, Trail. I may need to rethink PRP then.

I've had PRP done on my shoulder years ago. Insurance would not cover it as it was considered experimental at that time. Don't know if it is now or not. Was quite expensive but it did help.

Ok, had my dry needling appointment yesterday at PT. Quite strange to say the least. Not sure how many times they stuck me (3" needle-think acupuncture) and then hooked one up to electric stimulation. Felt like my ham was leaping off the table. The needles did not hurt, barely felt them actually. PT guy said they push them all the way in and stop at the bone. Said he could feel the knot where the muscle tore and there was a little blood/bruising visible to him.

Then he applied Kinetic Tape from my arse down to my calf. He laughed and said it was more difficult to apply the tape as I'm "lumpier" than most. Think it was a compliment....

Another appt tomorrow morning. Lovely. He also said he thinks 4-6 weeks recovery. More than the doc said. Shit.

If it gets pretty sore the first few days after it's a good sign. However, given how much you lift legs you may or may not get that response and so soreness may not be indicative of response. How's that for double speak? It stimulates healing at a molecular level so there is that component regardless. Anxious to see how it does for you.

Well, it's official. My R knee is back exactly where it was before stem cell. I had an obligation to go to a concert of this great band, Dark Tranquillity, with my gf and her son and ended standing up on on cement for over two hours. I can't walk really at all, as any movement of the leg causes a pain medially in the knee that feels like I am being stabbed in the joint with a knife. No exaggeration. Makes me break out in a sweat and even yell out sometimes involuntarily. I tried a mild pain reliever two days ago but it makes me so foggy I can't work or drive. I have a fishing trip coming up this weekend with my 12 y/o son who would be devastated if it were called off so I am going through with that. Just an outing on a boat once we drive to the coast, so should be manageable. Stem cell scheduled for next Wednesday, the day I get back from fishing. I am also mid cycle. I am just sick over this. I don't typically post my crap up in a forum but this one has me down. I can handle pain fairly good, but unless I am sitting or laying down it is just unbearable with movement. My garage is easily a 5-7 minute walk from apartment each way and just the thought of it makes me cringe. Getting up to go to the bathroom or fix a meal is about all I can do ffs. Back was on the docket today, with shoulders, legs (not gonna happen) and arms to follow this week. I think I am done lifting until I get stem cell. I hope I can ride out a 7-8 day off period while running test/npp/tbol. FFS. I am bummed. First world problem I realize. May have to consider a total or partial knee replacement if we don't get great results Wednesday. FFS.

Hope everyone else is having a good day. Sorry to spew in the forum. I just feel like I can't catch a break. My ex's voodoo doll must be dialed in, man.

Don't worry about bitching. This is the place for it. We don't always post only on good days here. I'm very sorry to hear this brother. I feel your pain, just know you will get through it.

Limping down to my basement to hit shoulders now. And to stare at the new leg curl that I can't use........

We all post up our worries and wins in here, Trail. That's part of the beauty of this thread. We triumph and suffer.....together.
Have been standing on concrete floors at work for quite some time. Without a doubt, if is the most unforgiving flooring.

Happy b'day, Clarky! You're not getting old. I turned 53 last week and Mrs. AG still says I'm immature.

I've got a little reserve $$ set aside in my HSA, but if my Dr. will refer me, insurance will pick up some of the cost. That's their current line at least; it could change as easily as the wind shifts direction.
If it will at least count towards my out of pocket max, I would be happy. Still a lot of variables to weed through.

Shit.

Well, that sounds positive, Kel, although I know the timeframe for healing isn't what you were expecting. The chiro/physio I go to applied Rocktape (think that was the brand) to my shoulder. Man, that stuff sticks very well. It was awkward keeping it on for days at a time, though. It helped, but it just wrecks a damn good shower.
Speaking of, I think I have an appointment this coming week to have my IT bands scraped again. Need to check my calendar!

Look into synvisc. It's a series of injections of an artificial synovial fluid. Helps a lot with arthritis.

Just some food for thought. I havnt read the prior pages to see the issue you are having.

Haz!!! Good to hear from you, buddy! It's an old shoulder issue that flared up again due to me being a dumb@ss. I got in the bad habit of swinging up dumbbells for shoulder presses instead of assisting the liftoff with my legs. Started getting real bad and led to musculocutaneous nerve entrapment. Slowly getting better but man it zapped my entire left arm except for triceps work. Left biceps atrophied really fast.
    How you doing?
Will read up on the synovial fluid procedure. Much appreciated!

its not currently approved by the FDA for the shoulder..... but that doesn't mean you can't have it done lol.

You will have to ask the doc if he will administer it if you buy it. My fathers doc said he would for him. You'll have to buy the synvisc online though.

Everything is great on my end. I've been working insanely hard to move up. Just putting that time in. My director called two days ago and told me I finally got that promotion. I'm awaiting my new contract.

Gym wise I was going real strong. Managing to get the time in between work hours and time with the kids..... and then we acquired two new clients and my work hours went back to 60-80 hour weeks. It's starting to smooth out now again as the clients developed a routine. I'm holding good size..... can't wait to get back to it.

Sounding good man, really good. Glad to hear it. You deserve it, you've put in the work!
My employer will be shutting down in ~ a year, but they're telling us something is in the works and we do have a new (unnamed) company that has committed and gotten tax incentives, so hopefully that will all work out.
Kudos to maintaining the quality time with the kids; I don't see how you muster up the energy. Very fortunate children!

Just picked up my TRT and Mrs. AG's scripts. Seems like WestWard is the main brand CVS is carrying and Perrigo is the backup brand. WestWard seems to be decent, but the Pfizer is just....nicer? LOL, I don't know, maybe it's because the Pfizer vials just look pimp. Don't see many of the "baby" 1 ml Pfizer vials though.

Ok, second PT appt and dry needling. No stim hooked to it this time though. They put me through more band type movements that they want me to do on a daily basis at home as well to speed things up. More blood had pooled at the bottom of my ham as well but on the opposite side of the injury. Odd but it happens. Took a pic but I'm not a contortionist so it may be hard to see the pooling.

I do see a bit of bruising and it looks like a bit of pooling toward the front. Hard to tell with those f-in tree trunks with veins that you call legs.
When I tore my quad a couple or three years ago (pretty sure I sent a few pics your way to get your input), the pooling got progressively worse for the first week or two; very noticable if I had been lying down for a bit. Don't know if the blood disorder made the timeline different?
Are you feeling any irritation from the tape adhesive? A PL friend of mine up in NC gets a very angry looking reaction from it.

Interesting stuff AG. Yes, you did send pics.
Zero irritation from the tape. Don't even feel it really. Kinda stylish......or not. A personal racing stripe?
Maybe I can ask GGR to help remove it?

I like your choice, Kel! The decision now is slow and easy or one quick rip of a removal?
I didn't experience any issues with the adhesive either. It just made showers seems incomplete because the tape prevented that area from getting blasted by the hot water.
The tape does defo help, it feels supportive and made me a bit less hesitant with my movements. Also, it just plain made me a bit more confident when doing rehab exercises.
Racing stripe...hmm. That implies some form of running, no?

    You, sir, are correct!

Everyone have a nice Friday. Be safe, be careful, and be aware of what is going on around you, please.
I'll be posting up a lift or two this weekend. Should be arms one lift, shoulders the one after that, and then back to squats Monday or so. Really enjoying squatting. It may not be pretty, but I squat to the extent my body allows and some days I'm a little weaker than other days. However, it is so f-in satisfying and burns an shitpotload of calories, which is good for me.

    Good night, HIT family!

I think the massive muscles are just scaring the sh!t out of the blood and it's trying to find someplace to hide.

As you know, the pooling will follow gravity. If you could withstand some sustained time on a merri go round you could make yourself a cool little design.

I think the dry needling will help a lot. Especially due to the mass in your legs. You won't be able to determine how much of course because you don't have a trial of same without the needling, but I am very glad you are doing that. Huge fan of kinesio tape as well. It tends to keep the non-compliant compliant.

Too many posts to comment on, especially for a self-absorbed dinkus like me today. Man, injuries just turn me into an irritable narcissistic b@stard. My gf confirmed this in our morning convo.

Happy birthday to Clarky! Hope the evening is really enjoyable with the missus. Look forward to reading your lift AG. Was disappointed to hear that swinging the DB up for shoulder press is not a good thing, as I do that. Of course I have to get some momentum for the 12.5s, haha.

I am going to do a bastardized workout today because work is saturated with meetings, the gf is coming over and I have to pack to leave early in a.m. To the coast with my son for some ocean fishing. So excited I can't stand it. The little guy can hardly contain himself. After the hit he has taken with the divorce it makes me teary when he's happy like this. I hope they are on the bite - I just want him to crush the fishing and have a trip to remember for a lifetime.

So, will run down to weight room between meetings and since can't lift til I get back next week, going to do lat pull downs on this crap machine, some BB rows in a smith (only BB set up there is), hopefully toasted enough that DB rows with 50s (biggest DB they have) will work. Then I will do bis x 2-3 exercises and tris. Not what I would normally do but I am trying to get something in. Hopefully I can tolerate the rows with my knee.
Hope everyone has a great and productive day and weekend. Appreciate the support and especially the reminder to remain positive. Goes farther than anything in life.

Sorry to hear mate, hope you get sorted asap. Enjoy the fishing .
