I’m experimenting with some fancy scale right now that the current goes through your feet and into hand held handles. Not sure yet, let me see how it matches up to the weight that I am losing and the muscle I know is adding. I’ve tried underwater too, but even had a weird glitch with that.
You’re dropping pounds, clothes are falling off you and the mirror has to be looking better. Don’t let the numbers bum you out.

Used 2 handheld models and didn’t like results.
Need to push thru weight loss phase into maintenance and training.
I was metabolic compromised....eating 800 - 1000 cal and unable to lose. Undiagnosed hypothyroidism. Now treated and body in synergy! If I miss a meal, body doesn’t let go. When I eat 1200-1300 over 3 meals, scale keeps dropping.
Yesterday AMAZING! Hadn’t seen colleague in about mo and she didn’t recognize my figure from distance until close - shock and awe. Lololol. Great motivation!!!

Ugh...I'm up and moving. Worked over yesterday, so am either doing stretching this morning and light cardio or moving weight with my back.

Yawn....I think the new job is trying to giving me as much OT as my old job. Not complaining, but just trying to find a schedule that works.

Finally had a leg workout that got me sore since taking all that time off of working them. Still taking it easy on my knee and staying lighter with higher reps since I still feel a little something in my knee and don't want to push it.
Bike - 5 minutes
Vertical press: 3-4 working keeping reps 20-25
Squats - 3 light sets, 12-15 reps. Deeper actually felt better on my knee than shallower.
Extensions - nope. Doc says never again. We'll see about that in the future...
Shoulders and tri's on the agenda today. So far with them pressing movements have been just fine, no pain. Side and rear laterals there's definitely a hitch and I've been staying real light. May go even lighter and just do ridiculously high reps. Better than nothing.
Edit to add shoulders and tri's:
Smith press: 3-4 working sets, still lighter but not by much
Dumbell press: 3 working 12 ish reps. Only feel shoulder when swinging them up but that wasn't that bad today
Laterals: Real light, high reps trying to feel out a good pathway that doesn't irritate delt. Literally started at 15 lbs and maxed out at 25. But, no pain
Front plate raises: 3- sets moderate weight.
Pushdowns: 3 working 8-12 reps
Overhead extensions on smith: 3 sets 10-15
Reverse cable dips: 3 sets about 15 reps.
Solid day. Better than expected.Last edited by kelkel; 01-24-2019 at 02:25 PM.

Great weekend for training. Saturday legs/abs/low back. Went heavy on some presses and that was very nice. Got good work in. Pretty sore today already. Calves on fire. Finished with cardio.
Today I punished myself a bit and did back and full arms. Next week I’m switching up the split a little and figured I’d go hard this morning to workout the timing on the change.
Got my 3rd cortisone injection the week before last. Feels a little better already and hoping this is the one.

Igi, on a side note, check out Cane Hill Too Far Gone if you haven't already done so. It's motivating enough to get my fat @ss up at 3 a.m. or so and do the run/walk thing for cardio.
Gotta check out more of their stuff so I can fully endorse them. Initially, not too shabby! There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Legs on the agenda today. See how the knee's doing.
Ok, edited to add the workout:
Bike: 5 minutes
Verticals: 3 working, still light @ 20 reps. Short rest. So tempted to go up...
Squats: 3 working, still light @ 3p for 15's. BUT, zero knee pain! Felt really good. Ortho said it takes several weeks to really kick in and feel the efftect so maybe the time is now. Slight change in form as well.
Sumo squats with heavy dumbell: 3 sets 15 reps
Ham stretching.
Real psyched about the knee so far. We'll see how it goes tonight and tomorrow.Last edited by kelkel; 01-29-2019 at 02:35 PM.

Thx Prox, all good. Just one of those things. Not really.. the shots help, but that’s about it. Otherwise it’s just a roll of the dice. Lifting is risky, and aggravates it sometimes. On the other hand, sitting around and not doing anything doesn’t seem to be the solution either, so I figure I can go to the gym and it will hurt, or I can sit home and get fat, and it will hurt.

Not a bad leg day.
Vertical press: 3 working 15 ish reps
Squats: 2 working still moderate weight 12 reps
Eccentric leg curls: 3 sets 10 ish reps
Seated curls: 3 sets 10 ish reps
Stiff legs: 3 sets 15 reps
Standing calves: 3 sets 12-15 reps
Seated calves: 3 sets 15 ish reps.
Added half a plate to leg presses and the same for squats. Still trying to slowly adapt my knee. Squats were easy, stopped at 12 but could have done probably 20. Felt strong but did feel it in my knee slightly. Feels good today though.

Have to say Kel, not sure exactly, but isn't the purpose to wrap the knees tightly? It could force the knee cap deeper into the groove at the bottom of the thigh bone.
I could guess that if some of your arthritic changes are beneath the knee-cap or on that groove, this extra pressure could be bad. But overall, I'm guessing on this.

It's quite common to cross wrap them to mitigate just that affect. Basically leaving the knee cap exposed. I'll probably be seeing my ortho soon for a shoulder check and will get his opinion as well.
Back in the day though cross wrapping wasn't done. I've told this here before but I was training for a power decades ago meet and a buddy wrapped my knees for me while getting ready for a heavy single. You'd wrap them so tight you basically could not bend your knee without being under a squat bar. Long story short, it broke veins in my gastroc and put me in the hospital for 3 days worried it may clot. Leg filled with blood and all. Then crutches, etc. Haven't wrapped them since.Last edited by kelkel; 02-14-2019 at 02:55 PM.

Definitely not an area I'm well versed in. Yes, if the knee cap is left exposed, it wouldn't be pressed on, thus no extra pressure.
Are these the elastic straps? Do they function at all like the bench press suit or are they meant to take pressure off of the patellar tendon?
Glad you dodged the blood clot issue!
Sorry I couldn't be more help big guy. Again, glad you're back at it.

OK, got it. I'm thinking the benefit is just warmth Kel. Which for old guys like us with joint issues due to DJD, is a good thing.

Probably going to be cardio and legs for a little while. Tried pressing but it's a bit much right now. We'll see.
