What's up everyone:
Update on dad: he's getting a permanent pacemaker installed today. Which isn't necessary a bad thing.
The leak that was fixed, they actually replaced a valve. He now has a cow valve in. Says he feels bad for the cow .
My surgery is scheduled Wednesday 1030. Still have not gotten a word from insurance. Approved or denied. Wtf!!! Already paid for all pre op, but a couple grand down for deposit on surgery. They are just screwing with my head now lol.
Gonna hit the gym today and possibly tomorrow too.
Have a great Monday and week everyone.

If he was feeling easily fatigued, he will probably feel energized. Not right after implantation, but within the first few weeks he will probably notice he feels better. Unless things have changed, they can monitor his pacemaker from home via a little doohickey that you place your phone on and a small pickup that is placed over the pacemaker. Very simple process. I think I did that once/week for the first few months and then less periodically after that.
Do you know what kind of pacer he had implanted? Mine was a biventricular pacemaker. Think my only limitations were that I couldn't wear a seatbelt or raise my hand above my shoulder for the first couple of weeks (the cardiologist gave me a note to keep with me if I got pulled over for not wearing a seat belt). Also, they issued me a card for getting through security at the airport because I wasn't supposed to pass through the walkthrough screening equipment.
The only working restrictions after that were staying clear of strong magnetic fields like welding, 3 phase generators, magnetic chucks, etc.
Dealing with the insurance companies can be maddening depending on who you talk to. I've talked to reps that were basically useless and then I have dealt with reps that were super helpful.
Keep us up to date!
Edit: I don't recall the life of the battery that powered the pacemaker. I want to say it was around 3-5 years(?), but the way they talked battery replacement was a walk in the park/very easy.Last edited by almostgone; 06-05-2017 at 09:31 AM.

I must be in a run of bad luck. Been with my employer 15 years and found out today I will no longer be employed there in ~ a little over a year. If I stay until the end there is a good severance with benefits for the duration of the severance period. At least they are giving us a heads up.
LOL, seems like every place I work explodes, shuts down, the owner passes away, or something like that.
Oh well, when we fall, tuck and roll and get back up, right?
Got a back session in before I went to the plant for the meeting. Will post it up when I get home. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

A few possibilities without having to go back to a job shop, I think. Just have to weigh the wage difference if any vs. 6+ months of severance pay and insurance if I stay on till the end.
If I'm lucky I could stay on till the end and the collect the severance pay and find a decent machining job and draw 2 checks for awhile. On the other hand if I find the right job, I would have to cut out and walk away from the severance for a sure thing. Just got some pondering to do.There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

1 set of crunches
Rack stretches
Wide grip pulldowns - 2 w/u, Work- 6, rest pause, 3+ w/ a 10 count hold on the partial, drop, 4
Parallel grip D ring pulldown - 2 w/u, Work-6, rest pause, 3, rest pause, 3
Tbar rows- 2 w/u, Work-6, rest pause, 3, rest pause, 2.
Simultaneous d'bell rows on back of incline bench- 2 x 10
Low pulley rows- 1 w/u, Work1- 4, rest pause, 2 . Drop off just a tad of weight. Work2- 7 reps.
Deads - 2 light sets of 10.
It took me 54 minutes, but that's lifting in my shop in the middle of the day and it's pretty dang warm and humid here. I did get a good pump. My back was nice and full/wide and my traps were standing out nicely although I am still too heavy.
The people at work aren't used to seeing me in a T-shirt, usually I wear a 4X work shirt, but just threw on a T shirt for the meeting. Got several comments and stares, so that kind of made my day. There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Chest/shoulders/biceps/triceps
Yes one workout.
How do I bust this up I am running to hard I feel, needing the experts opinions
All these below are 2 sets each, no drop sets, and 45 second rest between sets at 10-6 rep
All free weigts.
#1 upright rows close grip bar to teeth
#2 flat bench db press
#3 hammer curls
#4 incline bench db press
#5 Bent over rows barbell
#6 db pull over on incline bench
#7 preacher curl barbell
#8 military press
#9 bent over dumbell rows
#10 flys or skull crusher or db shrugs whatever I am feeling.
How do I break this up without any body part being underworked or over killed?
As long as it is a dumbell or free weight excersize I can add an excersize.ďLast edited by Obs; 06-06-2017 at 04:10 PM.

Between today and yesterday I couldn't decide gym or not. But head isn't right and just needed to get in there.
Very light work. Yesterday old school chest/tri work
Today was back/bis.
Definitely nothing to write home about. But wanted to help free my mind.
