Cant you wear a belt to prevent further injury and do those heavy sets with deadlifts and squats marcus?

I find my lower back is extremely tight and sensitive to injury, but when i get my belt going really tight, i hardly feel any pinch in my lower back.

Sometimes I dont feel like going straight into my working set so I do a couple of feel sets which is basically me feeling how the weight is and just going through the motions to judge what type of weight I can handle for the working set

    ^ Thank you. Smart.

I guess I kind of do that on flat bench. Some days it takes my shoulders a few more warm up sets until I feel like they are ready to handle the weight.

I never use a belt outside of a few strongman exercises such as log press and truck pull. Should I start using one with another lifts?? I saw an interview with Ronnie Colman when asked how he tapered in his waist and he said outside of less calories in the off session he wore a belt through all lifts even lifts like bench. What are your thoughts??

I normally hold 240-245lbs with just my hrt dose but usually my bf creeps up, at the moment I am slowly taking my bf down over many many weeks and trying my best to save all my tissue. On cycle at the moment and I do change daily especially when I am more depleted, dont look full at all but ive come down from 252lbs so everything on target. I will post some pics when I think I am in better shape. I did have some really good pics in my prime but they were on my other computer and thats with the ex-wife and I know she deleted them, I wasnt her favorite person 12 yrs ago lol... wish I would of kept them though

Im know many who dont wear belts but its something ive always done and I feel better with one on even when I am doing chest. Persoanlly I would always tell people to wear on heavy lifts but thats a personal choice of mine..

Ive been as heavy as 270lbs but I found this weight very hard to move around and the clothes at this size aren't really fashionable either lol, my bf wasnt the best around 17% and i just felt unhealthy. I would say ive looked my best when I was 8% bf at 245lbs this I class my prime but I have got my bf lower but at the sacrifice of lossing tissue which I hate doing. My prime was years ago

    Marcus,

Any pointers you can give me to improve my shelf? I heard the top of the pecs are called a shelf. Just below the front delt running to the sternum?

Hope my descriptions are correct, if not, disregard this post.

    thanks.

Great goal hope you achieve it. A lot of the times its not about the weight even if you got to 270lbs it wouldnt mean you look like someone else who is 270lbs, its all about how muscular you are , bf and the illusion you can build by having a balanced body. Great to have goals keep on it and let me know how you getting on with your 1st cycle

Never look back, always focus on what is in front of you. If I was to focus on what most consider my Prime due to age, energy, growth factor I would have given up long time ago. I look forward to each and every day and the possibilities of improving myself. Even when I have had a major set back such as my recent eye surgeries, shoulder surgeries and back surgeries I viewed them as challenges to show I can not only recover but I can succeed and improve even more than where I was at.

Dont take me wrong, I dont think you are focusing on the past, only saying this to help others to keep focused on the right thing which is the future.

yea, planning on getting to 240 with 15+% bf 1st, then try and cut down to 10% ish while maintaining weight.

lol. Yes. You worded it a lot better.

I see some guys where their chest starts at the top, its like a shelf, instead of a gradual increase in size of pec. Is that genetics? I'm sure lower bf would help. But is there something I could do to target that area and make it more defined?

    Thanks

Start off with incline dumbell press or smith machine and target that area when your the strongest. I would look into HIT style training and do 1-2 working sets what take you to failure and beyond. Then hit incline fyles and then move onto your flat chest exercises.
Some guys struggle with certain bodyparts and thats genetics, you will just have to work harder on that area and bring it up the best you can. Just keep on hitting those incline movements and I am sure your chest will pop out

All I do is incline movements for chest. Shoulder issues for one it hurts to do flat. But I have brought my chest up with just inclines.

I personally hate test prop... Well I'm beginning to hate test in general although test is basically the vast majority of cycles I've taken. For some reason I always get test flu immediately from prop and I never do with enanthate or cyp... Why are you going with prop?? Is usually more expensive per mg anyway

All bf.... Drop under 6-7% and the shelf magically appears. Kinda like veins that roll around. At 12-13% I have no vascularity what so ever and here's me just breaking 7%.

Absolutely love hit training when lifting as well as in cardio. Dorian Yates is the man. I never do flat bench bc I don't feel it does much for muscle mass compared to how hard it is on my shoulders. Just like in the blood and guts video I start with decline press to get a pre exhaustion, then incline fb press, flat fly, and end with dips. The first set is two warm ups and one working set then all other exercises are one warm up one working with no more then 1min rest in between. This "along with cutting my bf in half" has absolutely transformed my chest. I never really feel a good chest workout and this one frekin kills.

On a side note: "I feel my upper chest blew up when I started doing sit down military with a straight bar..... Just my 2 cents bc upper chest seems to be my strong point

I can't use prop for what ever reason. Body won't tolerate it
